(Hermione's POV)
As I lay in bed with my loving husband, I thought about the night I agreed to spend my life with him. We were sitting on the porch at his house.
We were talking, laughing, and having fun. After a while of talking we sat in silence and looked at the stars. I heard him start shuffling around and looked over at him.
"Draco, are you ok?" I asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine." He replied.
I nodded in understanding and looked back up at the stars.
"Um, Hermione." I looked over at him and waited for him to continue. When be didn't, I got nervous.
"Draco? Are you sure you're ok?" I turned sideways and put my hand on his shoulder.
"Hermione, you know I love you right?" He asked, catching me off gaurd.
"What are you talking about?" I leaned back a little.
"Just answer the question Hermione."
"Yeah, I do."
"Do you love me?" He asks.
"Draco you're scaring me." I said while scooting away from him slightly.
"Just answer me Hermione." He said firmly.
"Yeah. Of course I love you." I reply still sketched out by his sudden turn in behavior.
When he doesn't say anything I lean forward a bit. "Draco, what's wrong? You never act like this."
He puts his elbows on his knees and puts his head in his hands. "It's just that I don't want to lose you too." His voice cracks as he finishes his sentence.
"What do you mean 'lose me too'? I'm not going anywhere."
"I mean in the future. I want you to be with me in the future." He says.
"Draco, please elaborate on this. I don't know what you mean and it's confusing me."
"My father is in Azkaban. You know that right?" I nod and he continues. "Blaise, Theo, Crabbe, Goyle, Pansy, Astoria, and Daphne haven't talked to me since he got sent to prison because they believe I should follow in his footsteps. To continue what he started. When I told them I didn't believe in what he did they left and hasn't spoken to me ever since, and that was two years ago." He takes a breath and keeps talking.
"A few weeks ago, I went to visit my mother for Easter. When I arrived at the house I put my stuff in my room and looked for her. When I couldn't find her I called for one of the house elves. He seemed surprised that I was there and asked if I wanted anything to drink. I obliged and asked him about mother." He stops talking and starts crying. "He said that mother was at St. Mungos. I apparated there and asked the witch at the front desk about her. She took me to a room where we could have some privacy and talk without being overheard. She said that mother was attacked while at the house. She apparated here and got someone's attention before she blacked out."
He looks out acrossed the yard with tears still streaming down his face. I turn his head toward me and wipe them away.
"She's dead Hermione." He finishes in a whisper.
"Oh Draco. Why didn't you tell me?" I ask.
"Because I didn't want you to think I was weak and leave me just like everyone else did." He responds before fresh tears left his eyes. He looks away. "I don't want to be alone."
I hold back tears of my own as I make him look at me.
When I looked into his eyes, I knew that what he was saying was true. That he was serious about our relationship.
It was at that moment that I realized that he was meaning forever. It was in his eyes and written all over his face.
I kissed his lips lightly before giving a small smile. "Draco, I love you so much."
"Hermione, I love you too." He smiled back before kissing me again. "Hermione." He says against my lips.
"Yeah."
"You said that you would stick with me through thick and thin. For the good and the bad. The hard and the easy. The brightest time of day to the depths of the night. From dusk till dawn. I believed you. Now, I want to see if you will stand true to your word and ask you a question that had been sitting on the tip of my tongue since we started dating a year and a half ago." He shifts and gets down in his knee in front of me. "Hermione Jean Granger, will you make me the happiest man alive, and marry me?"
My hand flies over my mouth as he openes a ring box. "Yes." I say and allow him to put the ring on my finger.
I look down at the ring. It had an emerald diamond in the middle with ruby's and sapphires on the sides. I look up at Draco and smile.
He pulls me in for a kiss and deepens it almost instantly. I smile into the kiss and lean into him even more.
That was the best night of my life.
I look over at the sleeping form of my husband and then down at my wedding ring. It was a simple silver band with a diamond in the middle. On the bottom, the word aeternum engraved on it spelling forever in Latin.
I smiled and looked back at my Draco. I pressed a gentle kiss to his jawbone before readjusting slightly.
That night Draco cried was the first time I had seen him so vulnerable, broken, and scared. He wanted to stay with me forever and I was going to give that to him.
He was the love of my life, and I was his light in darkness. Nothing was going to split us up.
We were sticking to our marriage vows. We were sticking together for the rest of our lives. That meant we were sticking together...
Forever
