"We're here."
Those two tiny words put millions of butterflies in my stomach. I thought that I would feel free once I got to red territory but I just feel like even more weight has been put on my shoulders.
Outside this car there are swarms of teenagers carrying bags. It looks like absolute chaos but at the moment I'm more willing to go through this than live with my family. I'm just gonna think of this as my new start.
The guy walks around and opens my door for me. I'm starting to regret running away from him and making his job that much harder. He seems really nice.
As I'm climbing out the door I say, "Hey, I never got your name. Ya know it's kinda hard to ask for your name while I'm running away from you." I add a chuckle to the last part.
"If you must know, my name is Pedro." He smiles as he walks to the trunk to grab my luggage.
"Let me help you with that," I mutter as I hurry over to grab my stuff. I feel bad that he's doing all of the stuff that I can do myself. At least my parents are paying him well for this.
Pedro hands me my bags and slams the trunk closed. Once again I take a look around but this time the crowd is different. This time everyone's staring at me. I act on instinct and duck my head down.
Some people are even pointing and whispering. Pedro notices what's happening and takes charge. "Let's go over to the information desk." I didn't even notice the information desk. Which is surprising because it's right in front of the building's entrance.
The girl at the desk doesn't look like an adult. That's weird. From what I've seen of move-in day at the blue high school house it's always an adult at the information desk. My mom was often the adult that helped out at the information desk. She would always come home exhausted after working the information desk on move-in day.
"Hi my name is Blair Michigan."
The girl shuffles some papers around and pulls out a paper with my name on it. "This paper has your dorm assignment, your senior mentor, and your school schedule. Your dorms are assigned by your former color in your first year so you can make friends easily. And it looks like I'm your dorms senior mentor!" All I wanna know is where she got her boots. They look awesome and the black looks really shiny in the sunlight. "Okay, I should stop rambling now. I'll see you tomorrow since I'm your senior mentor!"
Pedro and I step away from the desk and make our way over to the front doors. The second the door opens I'm overwhelmed with chaos. A bunch of people are sitting in the lobby doing various different things. A group of pretty girls are standing in the corner talking and laughing. On the couch next to them are some jocks throwing a football. Not to mention the dude that's running from hallway to hallway to get away from another guy.
This is not what I expected. It's complete mayhem in this building. The paper I got at the information desk says that I'm on the second floor of dorms but I don't see stairs anywhere. It would be very helpful if this paper had a layout of the building but it kinda doesn't.
I walk over to the group of girls and they immediately notice me. "Hey, aren't you that girl from the blue advertisements?" Great. Looks like just about everyone knows me from those photoshoots. The girl sticks out her hand and I shake it. "My name's Lena." She leans in so she can whisper into my ear. "Who's that old dude that's with you?"
"Oh, that's Pedro. He's supposed to be my bodyguard or something." Wow. Did I really say that casually? Now people are gonna think I'm a rich spoiled brat. The girls around Lena start whispering to each other and that's how I know I made a mistake.
