[A/N: I just watched SAO II’s last episode…The feelssssss TT_TT so maybe that’s why I came up with this. The setting is after the WC when Kiyoshi went to America to undergo rehabilitation of his injured knee. Please don’t forget to leave a comment :3 Thank you for reading :)]

He first saw you from the window of his hospital room. You were on the hospital garden [A/N: I’m not sure if hospitals have gardens. I have never been hospitalized before XD]. He saw you gazing contently, with a soft smile on your face, at the flowers that bloomed there. To him, compared to the bleak and dull atmosphere of the hospital, you were like a warm ray of sunshine and that mere thought brought a warm sensation within his chest. Every single day he would see you on the garden so he made a promise with himself, once his knee gets better, he will go there and meet with you.

Then that day came. You were sitting on your usual spot on the garden when this tall brown-haired guy came to you. You were surprised; it’s the first time someone talked to you after the countless times that you stayed in there. He introduced himself to you as Kiyoshi Teppei. He mentioned that he flew all the way from Japan to undergo rehabilitation of his injured knee. Then he asked you to tell something about yourself. You were reluctant at first but when you saw the eagerness on his face, you can’t help but to sigh in defeat and began talking about yourself. You would sometimes throw side glances at him as you talk and you always saw him listening to you intently. After you said what you wanted to say, he suddenly asked why you were here in a hospital, you plainly replied because you are sick. Then your conversation became longer and longer than you expected as he began to talk about random things. His goofiness and air-headedness made you laugh at unexpected times.

That day started it all. He would always go there before you do, as if he was waiting for you to come. He would tell you stories about him, his family, his teammates and friends, his school, basketball, everything. Day by day you slowly looked forward to his stories. You eventually came to like him. Through his stories, you felt like you have been able to experience those things too, those things that you were not able to do or have.

One day, he asked you to tell him something about you, for a change. And so you did. You told him that you like flowers and for that reason you kept on coming back on that garden. You told him that flowers are beautiful yet very short-lived. They bloom with lively colors that captivate anyone that sees them but eventually they also slowly wither and fall off and then new buds will now bloom to replace them. You compared flowers to people. You had always thought they are similar. People are born and live in this world. Through their lives, they meet other people that appreciate and admire their beauty, then gradually grow old, weaker, then inevitably die. And then new people are born…He noticed the tears that fell down from your eyes. You frantically wiped them off. You never liked it when other people see you cry. You don’t want them to pity or feel sad for you. Then suddenly he pressed you against his chest and said that it’s never bad to cry if that would make you feel better. His words made you tear up more. You sobbed loudly against his chest, letting out all of the feelings you have been holding back. You felt his big warm hand rub gentle circles on your back, comforting you.

After you calmed down, you told him everything. You were born with a congenital heart disorder [A/N: This is just a fanfic. Please don’t kill me TT_TT]. You already undergone a delicate surgery long time ago so your parents thought you’re already fine. Despite that, they can’t help but to be overprotective and strict to you. Since you were frail since you were a kid, they never allowed you to play outside or do heavy physical activities. You always envied children who can run and play without worrying about anything. You lived a very normal, yet restrained life until about three months ago; the doctor found out that your heart condition returned, and now worse than before. You had to drop from school to undergo treatment. You obeyed everything the doctor said, took all the medications you need, but that did not make any progress. Until few days ago, the doctor said it was a miracle that you made it this far but he said that unfortunately your heart’s condition is slowly deteriorating and you only have a few months to live. You don’t want to die yet. You wanted to live longer, to do things you have not done before, to experience new things, to meet new people, to be in places you have never been.
