“I don’t get it.” TT_TT You groaned to yourself as you stared at the math problems written on the activity paper. The said activity is due on submission today and you were cramming to get it finished but unfortunately you just can’t understand anything about it. You slump your face on top of the table and just sighed out of frustration.

“Excuse me, is this seat taken?” You heard a male voice say. You looked up to see that the guy was your neighbor/senpai Nijimura Shuuzo, carrying a textbook on his hand.

You felt embarrassed at the fact that he saw you in a miserable state and quickly fixed yourself up.

“No Senpai.” You replied. He then sat on the chair.

“Thanks. Anyway, are you okay? You look down.” He asked worriedly.

“I’m okay…except I just need to finish this activity today but I just can’t understand any of it.”

“Let me see it.” You handed him the paper and he scanned it.

“They’re actually pretty simple.” He remarked.

“Maybe you’re right but I just really suck big time in math.” You grumbled.

“My bad. Do you want me to teach you how to do it?” he suggested.

“Really?” Your face lit up in hope and joy, but you had second thoughts about it. You think that may be already a bother for him. “Uh… Am I bothering you now? I know you also have things to do—”

“Don’t worry about it. I don’t really mind helping you.” he gave you a little smile.

“Thank you Senpai!”

And so the tutorial begins…

“Do you understand it now?” he asked you.

“Yes. Thank you so much Senpai.”

“Just always remember and apply the rules and you will not be wrong.”

You smiled and nodded at him in reply then continued to work on the problems. Unknown to you, Nijimura just fondly watched you with a soft smile on his lips.

“Um…Senpai?”

“What is it?”

“If you don’t mind, I’ll treat you on some milkshakes after school so…let’s walk home together.”

“…” You saw a faint blush on his cheeks. He consciously straightened himself up and cleared his throat. “Sure but we still have basketball practice later.”

“It’s okay. Actually I’m on classroom cleaning duty today so I will also take some time.”

“Is that so?” he stood up his seat, “Then, see you later [Name].” he said to you with a small smile on his face as he gently pat your head. You stared at his back as Nijimura headed towards the door. You don’t understand what you felt when you heard him call you by your name and gently patted your head, but one thing’s for sure, you’re overflowing with joy.
