ALESSIA BROOKER EMERGES FROM HER CARRIAGE ALONG SIDE THE OTHER CHOSEN LADY'S.

The air was brisk and cool against exposed skin and thinly layered clothing, a black carriage lead by white horses stops just metres away.

"Mary! We missed you so much!" They exclaim amongst their giggles sprinting over to their long lost friend.

"Oh, Kenna, Greer, Lola, Alessia, I'm so happy to see you." She flashes her beautiful smile at each individual.

"Aylee, we're all together again."

After greeting the girls, Mary looks over to see the royal family looking on.

Greer steps forward and begins playing with Mary's hair attempting to tame it, "Oh, Mary, your hair. Didn't the nuns teach you anything?"

They break into giggles attempting to soothe her nerves, Mary looks over at the trunks being unloaded and her smile disappears momentarily.

"Oh, Greer, those can't all be clothes."

"There's jewelry and silver, too. I'm making up in volume for what I lack in station, I suppose." Alessia gently nudges the girl, frowning.

"Here they come!" Aylee exclaims excitedly.

A trumpet blows one last time; the royal family heads down the by-stander filled walkway.

"Your Highness: King Henry II"

Alessia flutters her eyelashes inspecting the royals clothing and posture, "That's King Henry, but is that Catherine?"

"No. They're still waiting on her. That's Diane de Portiers, the king's mistress." Kenna informs, seemingly well taught on the kings relationships and current situation.

"So the rumors are true?" Greer questions staring at the dysfunctional family.

"Unlike her, you'll have no trouble finding husbands here." Lola smiles upon raising her friends spirits with the compliment.

"We'll certainly enjoy the hunt. What about you? Oh, don't tell me. It's about that boy from Aberdeen." Kenna seems taken back by Lola's faith towards the boy.

"Colin said he'd wait for me." Alessia nods encouragingly.

"Till when? We might never be back on Scottish soil, not if it all works out and Mary reigns here." Greer's words lack support and encouragement.
