chapter 54: Talent show

You wake up early. Earlier then intended. You notice Red isnt there with you like he had been when youd fallen asleep. You're instantly wide awake. "Red?" You ask and walk around. "Red, where are you?" You look all over the basement and first floor. He wasnt there. You run up the stairs to the second floor. You check his room, your room and quietly check Edge's. He wasnt in any. You go into Clover's room to see him curled up like a cat, with Nala on top of him. You aw at the sight. You sit next to him on the bed. His eyes open instantly. He looked spooked. 
"Easy Red, just me. I couldn't find you down stairs so I was worried." His eyes flicker to you. "Can you help me out after I take a shower? Need to bandage my hands properly." He yawns and nods before blipping out of existence. You snicker and go to your room to see him curled up on yours asleep again. You grab the garment bag, a fresh set of underwear and some legging shorts. You were NOT going to risk flashing people. You go to your bathroom and decide to take a bath for once. You put the stopper in the tub and put in your peppermint bubble bath before running the water. As you wait for it to fill up you get undressed and unwrap your knuckles and feet. God you need to remember to wrap everything properly next time. You slip into the tub and hiss at the water on your sore skin but it was helping relax you. You had peppermint scented everything this time a year. The scent was just so relaxing. You hold your breath and duck under the water to rinse your hair. Its gotten longer now, to your waist. You get out of the tub and dry off before getting dressed. You notice in the garment bag that there was a matching cardigan to your dress with a note.
"Forgot to give this to you. Thought you might need it. With love,
☆Dream☆" You smile as you put it on and then grab your first aid kit. Going to your room you see Red still asleep so you decide to do your hair and make up. You braided your hair and coil it up into a single bun on your head. You do your eyeshadow as a baby blue base with bubblegum pink on the outside. You do winged eyeliner that made your eyes look bigger, put your mascara on so it made your lashes fill out and finally bubblegum pink lipstick. You see Red still asleep so you shake his shoulder. He wakes up and blushes.
"Need your help now." He helps you bandage your hands and you smile at him. "Thanks."
"No problem.."
You put a comb in your hair. It had a pale pink lilly on it. You put a set of matching earrings on and change your normal locket to a necklace that tied everything together. 
"Go get changed Red." He does and you grab your bag. You make breakfast and wait for the boys. Edge had offered to drive you today. Suddenly you remember something. Your mom had left you her engagement ring, it had been in a safety deposit box until a couple weeks ago. You get the boys their plates ready then run back upstairs. You find the ring and smile. You throw on studded fingerless gloves then the ring. You go back downstairs and grab a glass of orange juice. The boys eat quickly but then Edge speaks up.
"YOU LOOK GOOD IN THAT STYLE. DREAM DID A GOOD JOB WITH IT."
"Thanks Edge." You walk over and hug him. He hugs you back. Over the past little while you and him started treating each other like siblings. You still didn't completely trust him but hes shown that hes mostly not bad as he makes himself out to be. Once they finish you all go to the car Clover had bought Edge for getting his license. 
You chat as you go to school then Red pulls you close as you walk to your friends. You notice Rus with his back to you and you grin. You motion for everyone to stay quiet as you sneak up behind him you notice Nightmare back on your way there and smile. Once you're behind Rus you trail your hands up his spine before wrapping them around his neck and whispering where his ear should be. "What's a tall drink of water like yourself hangin around here for?" Your voice was a pur and Rus whirls around with a huge blush on his face. You burst out laughing at his shocked expression then go to Abyss and curtsy. "My good sir, how are you on this beautiful morn'?"
He laughs at you and bows to you. "I am well, my fair lady. May I ask the same question to you?" You giggle.
"I'm pretty good." You turn to Nightmare. "You. Are you doing any better?"
"Lots. You look good. Who did your make up?" Nightmare responds.
"She must have done it herself. Look at how well it works. Well everything except the gloves." Jazzy says.
"Well if youd rather see my skinned knuckles I can take them off." You sass him.
"What happened?" Ink asks. You skip over to him.
"Oh I just flew into a rage and nearly killed my punching bag. But look, we're twining!"
"Wait, why did you get so mad?" Comet asks. Forté walks over then.
"Hows your aunt doing?" Your mood drops and you look away.
"Gaster says she only has a concussion…. They wanted to keep her for observation though… she'll be out later today…." You say softly. Suddenly you're tackled by Buttercup.
"Turn around! I wanna see!" You do as she asks and you smile. She squeals and jumps. "So cuuuute! Right Cherry?" He nods and you look to Red. Hes staring into space while scratching at his arm. You walk over and ping his cheek 
"Drop ths pissy upset crap. She'll be FINE." You say. 
"Shes right Red. But think about it, last day of the term. The four of us will be broken up some though…." Sans says as he throws an arm over Red's shoulders. The bell rings then and you all go to class. They were only about half an hour each. Everyone stared at you as you passed. Your confidence grew with each passing glance until lunch time. You got anxious then.
"Hey, the performance will go well, everyone will love it." Nightmare says.  You look at him and smile softly.
"Thank-" long arms are wrapped around your waist and you stiffen. Red let out a loud snarl.
"Let. Her. Go." He emphasized each word.
"Am I not allowed to try and apologize to the little dove?" You hear the voice of G. You slap his hands away and stand to face him.
"Don't test me today." You hiss at him. All of your friends stare at you in shock. "I am NOT in the mood you asshole." He backs away and holds up his hands.
"Look, I'm really trying to be friendly."
"Don't care. Leave." You point away from you. Your vision blurs but he leaves. You go over to Buttercup,  grab her hand and drag her to the bathroom with you.
"Are you alright?"
"I hate men…… they just want to hurt….." you hiss out. 
"Stay here for a second." Tears ran down your face and she comes back with some toilet paper and hands it to you. You wipe at your eyes. "Not all guys are like that.  Your friends aren't. You can see that Cherry treats me like a princess. What happened?"
"This guy pretending to be my dads estranged half brother fucking hurt Clover….. I wanted to murder him then and there….. and you remember the day we met……. God I'm just so mad about it."
"You really have the kindest soul I have ever met." 
"How so?"
"Just how much you care about others. It's incredible."
You laugh softly. "The twins showed up as I was on my way down to the basement to kill the punching bag. After that Nightmare came down and finished snapping out of that."
"He was sick though."
"Coughing his non-existent lungs out." You sigh. "The guys are pretty good. They care about me. I guess I'm just over reacting."
"You are. Let's go back. They're worried about you." She leads you back to the table and Sans hugs you.
"Feeling better Starshine?"
"A bit." You say.
"Just got off the phone with Dad. Clover is coming to watch the talent show."
"I'm glad."
"He also says she remembers what happened. You really were right about what happened." 
"I know I was." The bell goes off and your nerves come back. Your whole group of friends go to the auditorium and you see Clover and Gaster there. "AUNTIE!" you yell and sprint to her. She turns and you hug her tightly. You notice that she has one of your guitar cases.
"Hey, I'm here."
"Are you okay? How are you feeling?" 
"Still hurting some with a headache but It could be worse."
You pull away from her and smile. "Let's all go sit." You take her hand and lead her to the back row. You all sit down and you sit beside her. Red sits on her other side. You get anxious watching the others. Soon its it's almost the end of the show and you and Ink were called to go backstage. Clover hands you the guitar case and you walk down the walkway with Ink. You hand him the case and then start shaking when you take the cardigan off. Ink takes your hands after you set it down. 
"Relax, people won't care about them when they hear you singing." You look at him and smile slightly. 
"Thanks Inky. Let's finish getting ready." You do and he takes your favourite guitar out of the case.
"A-am I really allowed to use this?" He asks with wide eyes.
"Of course. They'd love it so much if you did." He nods and soon you two are called out on stage. You both go out and you look down as you walk to the piano and sit down. Ink sits on a stool and adjusts the mics and you adjust yours. You glance at him and he nods. You both start playing and Ink starts off the song.
"Remember me,
Though I have to say goodbye.

Each night we are apart." You start singing with him then.

Remember me." You both stop singing and you play a little more then you start to sing.

Remember me." You both stop playing and everything is silent. Suddenly you hear clapping and cheering you hear people yelling for another song. You run over to Ink. 
"W-what do you think?"
"They liked your singing. Give them another song."
"Which one?"
"I have the perfect one." He whispers it in your ear and you look at him surprised. "I'll play for it, you sing."
"Fiiiiiiiiine." You say and he walks to the piano and you take a mic from the holder. You look to him and he nods before you both start.
"I don't have time for dancin',
That's just gonna have to wait a while.

Gettin closer 'n closer every day." You lean on the piano as Ink plays. You smile brightly then walk to the front of the stage with closed eyes.

'Cause I'ma almost there." You do a little twirl and giggle. You know your friends were watching you closely.

I'm almost there!" You were breathless after the last note. You smile and everyone cheers again and you get hugged tightly by Ink. You laugh and hug him back.
"That was amazing!" Ink yells.
"Thanks. Let's go back now." You put the mic back and you both go back. Ink puts your guitar back and you pick you the cardigan before laying it over one of your arms. You walk out and people surrounded you. You start getting really anxious about everything. Ink pulls you through the crowd of humans and monsters. You see your other friends and run to them. You hug Dream tightly.
"You okay?" He asks back. 
"That was scary." You say as Blue hugs you both.
"THAT WAS AMAZING!" He chirps out.
"T-thanks."
"I honestly didn't think you'd take the cardigan off." Abyss says.
"I promised I would." You back up to see everyone looking at you proudly. "W-what?..." you say and blush. Looking over you see Edge and Black coming over.
"I DIDN'T THINK YOU HAD IT IN YOU." Black says.
"Wooooooow, thanks Black." You retort back.
"HE MEANT IT IN A GOOD WAY." Edge says before patting you on the head.
"Don't do thaaaaat!" You smack his hand away from you. Everyone laughs. 
"Oh right, Christmas party on the 23rd. If you guys miss it you wont get your presents from me." You say. They all start complaining as you sling your guitar over your shoulder and take Clover's hand. It was the end of the day so you two walked home and talked about random stuff.
