"so ... you wanna tell me what that whole thing was about??" ricky asked nini as he drove her back to pepperdine. nini froze in her seat and tucked her hair behind her ears.

"no.. not really," nini awkwardly said. ricky let out a deep sigh as his thoughts ran back to ellie's words. it was obvious nini was hiding something from him, but when was she gonna tell him?

"nini im worried about you. what happened today was really scary and i feel like if you had someone to talk to then it wouldn't be as scary for you," ricky told her as he pulled into a parking spot, "please tell me what's going on."

"i thought you said you were gonna give me time and let me decide when i want to tell you," nini defended herself.

"that was before it started fucking with your mental health," ricky exclaimed and looked at nini with curiosity, "please just tell me what's going on."

nini contemplates it. she looked at rickys eyes and how upset and curious he looked, but she couldn't tell him. he would hate her or go to the police. they would all think she's crazy.

"ricky im sorry.. but i can't," nini breathed out and ricky's face fell.

"why not? it can't be that bad.." again, nini fell silent and looked away from the boy. she couldn't lie to his face but she had no choice. she can't trust anyone.

"im sorry, but i just don't feel comfortable talking about it."

"nini that's not fair, okay?" ricky frustratingly said, "ive done so much for you, why can't you trust me? what's so bad that you can't tell me?"

"nothing! i just- can't afford to tell just anyone."

"i'm not just anyone! im your fucking boyfriend!"

"ricky. no. im not telling you."

"i don't know if i could be with you, if you can't trust me."

"ricky.. i do trust you."

"then tell me."

"i can't."

"nini, what do you want me to do? i don't wanna be in this relationship if you're gonna keep hiding shit from me."

the girl got silent and looked away from ricky's eyes as a tear fell down her face, "then we should just break up."

ricky got taken aback and scoffed, "you rather break up with me then tell me the truth?"

"yes.."

"what are you hiding, neens?" ricky asked with his voice cracking a bit. the girl looked at him and saw the tears falling from his eyes and his lips quivering, "why can't you tell me what's going on? you're just gonna break up with me?!"

"i can't tell you ricky," nini softly said and started to open the car door, "i'm sorry.. we just have to break up."

before ricky could say anything else, nini exited the car and left the boy alone in the parking lot. ricky watched through the passenger window as nini's body got smaller and smaller. he rested his head on the steering wheel and began to sob. his first heart break.
