*yawns " Good morning guys! " I said. Samantha, Hazel, and Jack are awake. Samantha's texting, Hazel's in the shower, Jack's watching the television. Richard was still snoring in his sleeping bag.
The snoring sounded like the one I heard last night. Maybe Richard is still asleep because he was up at night looking through our bags. Richard? Really. I didn't know he had it in him. He's very quiet, and kind, I never thought he would ever look through someone's stuff, it's like he is too nice to do such a thing.
" Why is Richard still asleep? " I asked Samantha.
" I don't know, when we woke him up he said he's still sleepy and wants to wake up a bit late " Samantha replied without even looking towards me.
That just makes the theory I had stronger. He wanted to sleep-in because last night he didn't get quite enough sleep since he was looking through one of our bags.
I got up and checked my bag. It was a bit messy. Didn't look like how I left it yesterday. The guy last night must be searching through my bag! I was completely sure my bag was the one the guy was looking through last night. It looked messy. I always leave my bag tidy. What was the guy looking for? I headed to the bathroom. My mind was full of thoughts about last night. Was the guy really Richard? I can't believe it. Richard, someone as kind, as innocent and Richard, looking through my bag?
I showered and decided that I would still spy on the guy for a day or two then I would catch him red-handed. I had four more days. That would be more than enough time to catch this guy in the act.
" So, what are we going to do today? " I asked. I would prefer staying in the cabin so I wouldn't get too tired and sleep through the night.
" I don't know, " Hazel said.
" What are the activities we can do here? " Jack asked.
" Um, I guess we can go to a nearby waterfall and play there, " I said. I remembered when I was little my parents used to take me to the waterfall.
" That's a good idea, at least it's better than just staying at the cabin right? " Jack said.
" Okay, so it's settled we go to the waterfall " Samantha declared.
Hazel, Samantha, and I prepared more food for lunch. We headed to the waterfall. Didn't take us long before we could hear the sound of water splashing. We walked faster and then we arrived. A lot of 'Oohs' and 'wow's' came. The waterfall is very majestic. The clear blue water makes it seem like it's inviting us to dive in. Thankfully we were wearing our swimsuits under our clothes. We quickly took off our clothes and dove in. After an hour of swimming we ate lunch and swam again. As the sun went down, we headed back home and relaxed until bedtime.
' Okay, remember, tonight we should spy on the guy, also find out maybe a clue of who the person is ", I thought.
That night I lied in my sleeping bed. I was very nervous about this whole creeping and spying thing. What if it is Richard? I can't believe someone as kind as Richard can do such a thing. Richard is just a sweet innocent nerd that's very kind. I think I would hit off great with him. You may guess it already right now, and yes, I do have a huge crush on Richard.
There it goes. The faint sound of the sleeping bag again. This person is getting better and better at getting up from the sleeping bag without making any noise. Through the moonlight, I saw the person, and again he was looking through my bag! Really? What's he even looking for?
He kept rummaging through my bag. He definitely looked like he was looking for something. Suddenly he took something out. A velvet maroon box. He took it out and looked at it with a satisfied face.
I freaked out right there in the spot. That velvet maroon box was the box of my brooch. I pretended to move in my sleep. The guy quickly put the box back into my bag and went back to his sleeping bag.
Phew. I am not losing that brooch. It's a gift from my grandmother before she passed away. She said it belonged to my great-great-grandmother. It has been a heirloom since 1758. Thankfully I scared the guy and he quickly put it back to my bag.
Now I know what the thief is searching. I have to protect that brooch from now on, ugh! Why did I even bring it on this trip? It's not like we will be going to a wedding or something. Now my precious brooch is in danger! I promised myself that tomorrow I will take it out of my bag and quickly put it somewhere else.
