It was way too early for this shit. After another almost sleepless night, Jamie had awoken to the whiney parasite complaining about how he wanted breakfast.

'Jamie. Jamie, we want pancakes.'

He had been pestering her about this for the past few minutes, yet the idea of sleep was more appetizing than pancakes. After another couple of minutes, she caved. "What do we say?" Venom grumbled quietly at the question.

'...Please?'

Jamie rolled out of bed and drew open the curtains, welcoming the morning sunlight into her room. She certainly wasn't a morning person by any means, but she could admire the way the sunrise glided over Manhattan's cityscape. She stood there for just a moment, basking in the rays. Then, with a deep sigh, she turned and exited her bedroom.

In her bedclothes, she made her way down the hall and into the kitchen, Venom practically dragging her there in his excitement. She made her way to the cupboard, reaching for the pancake mix that was in the back. She paused for just a second when she noticed that Venom was being awfully quiet. It was strange for him. She usually had trouble keeping him quiet. "What's wrong?" she asked wearily.

'We are not alone. There is someone in the living room.'

Jamie spun on her heels and scanned the adjoining room. It had a few chairs, a couch, and a small T.V. The only thing out of place was the figure occupying one of the plush chairs. Jamie froze where she stood. The man, dressed all in black with the weird accessory of an eyepatch, stood up from the chair and made a short walk into the kitchen, hands raised in a sign of peace. The sign wasn't all too comforting.

"Jamie Graham, my name is Nick Fury, and I am the director of SHEILD." He said, stopping a couple of feet in front of her. "Before you ask, SHEILD is the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division." Wow, that's a mouthful.

'Jamie, is he one of the bad guys? You remember our rule.'

Jamie ignored the eagerness in Venom's voice and held the intruder's unwavering gaze.

"I'm not so sure yet," she replied stiffly. After all, the director of an organization she had never heard of before is standing in the middle of her kitchen.

"Not so sure about what?" The man inquired. "I take it you and your friend are having one of your private discussions."

'Jamie, make him get to the point. He interrupted breakfast and is beginning to look quite tasty.'

Jamie attempted to act nonchalantly towards Fury's comment, but she could feel the annoyance radiating off of Venom when she ignored his voice in her head. "Why are you here Nick Fury? I doubt you just wanted to chat."

Nick Fury smirked. "A while back, we were monitoring a bio-engineering corporation that was studying a group of organisms they found in space. They classified these organisms as symbiotes. Their CEO Carton Drake bonded with a particularly nasty symbiote that called itself "Riot". He and Riot were going to attempt to bring the rest of the symbiotes to earth. Eddie Brock and your friend here stopped them."

"Not to burst your bubble or anything, but I already knew all of this. Quite a lot of talking happens when you have someone who speaks in your brain." Jamie deadpanned. " What I want to know is why I found you sitting in my living room at seven-thirty in the morning." Fury scowled, grabbed a phone in his pocket, and handed it to her. The screen showed a picture of a glowing blue cube.

"That is the recently stolen Tesseract." Jamie looked on with interest. "It has the potential energy to wipe out the planet, and considering you both live on it, I would like to think you would be up to saving it."

"Who stole it?"

"A wayward Asgardian by the name of Loki."

'OOOOoo Asgardian.'

Jamie's eyes narrowed inquisitively. 'What do you mean by tha-'

"But if you're in, we'd have to leave now."

"Whatcha thinkin' Venom?"

'We're thinking this could be fun...'

Fury gave her an annoyed look as Jamie pondered her answer. After a few seconds, a black, amorphous liquid peered out from behind her back and a face took shape. His milky white eyes seemed to stare right through Fury and he smiled with a mouth full of sharp teeth.

"We're in."
