Jamie was currently perched on a rail beside Steve and Agent Coulson. Idly munching on her chocolate bar, she listened with amusement as Agent Coulson asked Steve to sign his Captain America trading cards.
"I mean if it's not too much trouble."
"No-no, it's fine."
"It's a vintage set. Took me a couple of years to collect them all. Near mint, slight foxing around the edges but-" He was interrupted by an alarm sounding from one of the agent's computers.
"We got a hit. Sixty-seven percent match. Wait- cross-match, seventy-nine percent."
Agent Coulson strode over to the computer. "Location?" Jamie hopped off of the rail and walked over with Steve.
"Stuttgart, Germany. Twenty eight, Königstraße. He's not exactly hiding."
"Captain, you're up. Jamie, be his backup," Fury announced. Jamie wondered if he ever sounded anything but serious.
Once the helicarrier reached Germany, Jamie had been placed with Agent Romanoff and Steve on the quinjet. That was where she stood now, watching Steve, adorned in all of his past Captain America glory, battle Loki. She was only allowed to help if Steve needed it, and it was driving Venom crazy. She assumed that Fury viewed her and Venom as a loose cannon. To be fair, he wasn't entirely wrong.
When Steve was knocked to the ground, Agent Romanoff turned to Jamie. "Jamie, go hel-"
"Agent Romanoff, you miss me?" A new voice spoke through Jamie's earpiece. PA SYSTEMS OVERRIDE was displayed on the quinjets's computer screen. Jamie recognized the music blasting from the speakers as an AC/DC song. 'Someone's got taste.'
A man in a metal suit rocketed down and fired a repulsor blast, knocking Loki to the ground. Loki's battle gear faded away and he raised his hands. 'Hm, so that's Iron Man.'
Once they had restrained Loki and had gotten him into the quinjet, they were headed back to the helicarrier.
'We could've done that...'
Even from inside her head, the disappointment in Venom's voice was evident. "I know buddy. I know." Reaching into her travel pack, she pulled out a bar of chocolate. It was the only thing she could think of that might cheer him up a bit. She could feel Loki eyeing her as she took a seat across from Loki and began to eat.
'Can we eat him? Asgardians are so difficult to come by.'
"No, we can't eat him. Fury would blow a casket." When she looked at Loki, she couldn't help but grin at the startled look on his face. Finishing off the chocolate, she walked over to Steve and Tony.
"It's like calisthenics. You might have missed a couple of things. Y'know, doing time as a Cap-sicle." This made her snicker, and she attempted to hide it with the back of her hand. Tony, however, had heard. He nodded approvingly and pointed to her. "Her, I like. Where's your little buddy?"
'LITTLE?! WE'LL SEE WHO'S LITTLE WHEN I HAVE EATEN HIS LEGS!'
Steve looked mildly confused, but the scowl hadn't left his face. "Fury didn't tell me he was calling you in."
"Yeah, there's a lot of things Fury doesn't tell you."
'Geez, they're like an old married couple.'
A sudden crack of thunder, way too close to the quinjet for her liking, nearly made Jamie jump out of her skin.
'Scaredy cat.'
Her eyebrows furrowed together at Venom's laughter. "Am not."
'Are too!'
"Where's this come from?" Jamie heard Agent Romanoff ask. Lightning flashed continuously outside of the aircraft.
Out of the corner of her eye, Jamie watched as Loki leaned forward, looking around him with a face of apprehension. Puzzled, she turned to face him.
Steve noticed the Asgardian's behavior too. "What's the matter? Scared of a little lightning?"
Loki glanced towards the roof. "I'm not overly fond of what follows."
Something crashed on the top of the quinjet, jolting everyone.
Tony grabbed his helmet as Steve rushed for his. Jamie watched as Tony made his way towards the end of the quinjet, reaching for the button to open the ramp of the jet. "Tony, don't-"
He pushed the button anyway, continuing forward as the ramp lowered.
'Asshole... Could we eat him instead? I'm sure it would be worth the consequences.'
Jamie was actually starting to consider it.
Steve, who had just managed to put on his helmet, swiveled his head around at the commotion. "What are you doing?"
No sooner had he spoken, when a man, dressed in the same fashion Loki had been, landed on the ramp. Tony made a move to fight but was hit aside with the newcomer's giant hammer right into Steve. Jamie was pulled out of the way, by a black tendril, before the two men could slam into her. The man marched forward, grabbed Loki by the neck, and then jumped out of the jet.
Jamie desperately wished looks could kill as she glowered at Tony. "Nice going Stark!" Tony didn't even spare her a glance.
"Now there's that guy."
Agent Romanoff glanced over her shoulder. "Another Asgardian?"
"That guy's a friendly?" Steve questioned, pushing himself off of the floor.
"Oh, yes." Jamie threw up her hands in a bout of exasperation. "I'm sure he just threw his hammer to say hello!"
Tony turned to face them. "Doesn't matter. If he frees Loki, or kills him, the Tesseract's lost." He began to walk towards the edge of the ramp.
"Stark," Steve shouted after him, "we need a plan of attack."
"I have a plan." Tony paused to look over his shoulder. "Attack!" Tony blasted out of the jet, Steve rushed over to the parachutes.
Agent Romanoff called back to him. "I'd sit this one out, Cap." Jamie's mouth quirked into a small smile despite the gravity of the situation. 'Cap. I like that nickname.'
Steve began to strap on the parachute. "I don't see how I can."
"These guys come from legend, they're basically gods."
"There's only one God ma'am, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that." Steve grabbed his shield and dove out of the plane, head first.
Jamie watched for a second, stunned. She glanced at Agent Romanoff, giving her a questioning look. Sighing, the agent gave her a nod in return.
Jamie couldn't help the grin that slid onto her face. "Suit!" She had barely uttered the word before a black liquid completely encased her, and Agent Romanoff was left staring at Venom's joyful face.
"It's time for some real fun." In a second they were out of the jet and falling through the air.
