Mom and dad didn't care about us. All they cared about was money and themselves. They threw both of us out in an alley, with only one backpack, a piece of stale bread, and a broken screen cell phone. I was only ten at that time, my brother Jason was five and had a sprained ankle. I, Kendra Whitley, was abandoned along with my brother. My older cousin Jackilen is in our care for as long as we may live. The only thing that bothers me about her is that she drinks, a lot! But I'm used to it, I mean who wouldn't, especially since I lived with her for five years already. Jason is obviously younger than me. He is in the fifth grade, yet I feel he is smarter than me. I saw all the kids in my French class get up, and started to escort the classroom. I grabbed my pencil pouch, and walked out the door. Today was two days away from our spring break. I went to my locker and my friend Elisal came up to me. "Hey! You want to go to our last class together?", she asks in her usual cheery voice. I look at her from the side. "You don't even need to ask me! Let's go!", I tell her excited about our upcoming break. When the bell rang for school to end, I said bye to Elisal, grabbed my stuff from my locker, and headed outside. I walked a mile until I was about four or five blocks away from my house, or Jackilens house. I stretched out and started to whistle. Near a drug store, I saw a guy smoking. I walked past him but then turned around. He was looking at me like he knew me. I turned around again and walked faster. His red hair and scarred face scared me more than the day I fell in a river with frogs in it. I finally reached the house and opened the door. "I'm home!", I yell out happily. "Welcome back!", yells Jackilen from the kitchen. I walked in there to see what smelled of hamburger meat. "What ya cooking?", I asked. "Mac and cheese with hamburger meat.", she says. I throw my fists up in the air, and bring them back down. Along with a loud, "YES!". I went back into the living room area, and saw Jason enter the house. I jumped up quickly and gave him a big bear hug. "Hey cutie!", I squealed loudly. He looked down at the floor and sighed. "You know I don't like that name you gave me!", he fake yells. But as I let go of him, he grabbed me again and hugged me back. "I love you big sis!", he yells out proudly. I hugged him with all my might and kissed him on the forehead. "I do too!", I said to him. Jackilen peaked her head through the living room entrance and yelled out that it was dinner time.
Night began to fall, and I was tired of hearing Jackilen sing in kareoke, and see Jason lose in Super Smash Bros. I went up to my room and looked out the window. I walked a foot away from it but then ran back. There was a black car in front of our house, and that was not our car. I ignored it and went to sleep.
The next day I got up, super happy about tomorrow, our spring break. I got changed and went downstairs to eat breakfast and waited for it to be time to leave. I looked out the living room window. My eyes were in deep shock, the black car was still there! I gasped, and was now scared to leave the house at all. I was worried about Jason, and told him to be careful when we went outside. "Goodbye Jacky!", we both yelled. "Goodbye! Be careful!", she yells. We exited the house, and I walked slowly towards the side walk, which was where the car was near by. I grabbed Jason by the shoulder, and whispered in his ear. "Love you! Be careful! Please!", I tell him desperately. He nods and runs off the other direction, to the left. I look back at the car, and ran off to school. But this time, scared.
