Chapter 3

After I go back inside, I head back up to my room to finish homework. I go downstairs and eat my dinner. After I eat, I take my dog, Lucky, on a walk.

The clouds are all puffy and pretty and there is a slight breeze. The sky looks like a rainbow because it's just after sunset. The fall leaves crunch under my feet as I walk. Suddenly, a pair of arms wrap around my waist and pick me up. I scream.

"AHH PUT ME DOWN!!" I yell. The person drops me and starts laughing. I turn to see my best friend, Parker, with a huge grin on his face. I smack his arm playfully.

"Why on earth did you do that?" I say as I cross my arms. He just smiles.

"Because it's funny." He smiles even wider as he kneels down and pets Lucky. "Hi boy! How are you?"

"He can't talk."

"Well I know that, Ky."

"You sure?" I smirk.

"Yes ma'am." He bows in front of me.

"What are you doing here?" I ask.

"Well, I was going to your house and you left while I was driving by, so I decided to scare you." He says walking up to me. He picks me up and gives me a big hug. I hug him back. He pulls back and starts jogging to my house.

"COME ON KY!!" I sigh and start jogging with Lucky by my side.

Once we get back, Parker goes straight to our fridge and gets some snack food.

"So, how was your day at school? I didn't see you." Parker asks, while chewing. He's a slob.

"It was good. How about you?" I smile at him.

"Good. All these girls flirt with me. I don't even know why." The thing about Parker is that he's very attractive, but he doesn't know it. That's what I think is adorable about him. I've known him for a long time, so I don't like him like a boyfriend. He's just my best friend.

"It's because they think you're pretty, Park." I say to him.

"Pretty? I'm not a girl." He pouts and sticks his bottom lip out.

"You're useless." I smile at him.

"And you're dumb."

"Well thank you, kind sir."

"You're very welcome madam." He comes around the counter and picks me up bridal style and takes me to the couch and drops me.

"What was the point of that?" I ask him.

"So we could watch tv."

"Drama Queen." I say. He sits back on the couch and I lean my head in his chest. He's like my brother. Just when I get comfortable, the doorbell rings.

"Ughhhh." I get up and walk to the door. Parker follows me for some odd reason. I look through the peep hole and see Alex. Why him again?

I open the door and Alex has another box in his hand. He looks up at me then Parker. He looks confused.

"Uh... hey Kylie." Alex says, scratching his neck.

"Hey." I reply.

"Who is that?" He asks motioning to Parker. Parker is a grade a head of Alex and I so we don't see him much.

"Parker." I say and look at him. He looks angry. I grab his arm and smile. He looks down and smiles back.

"Oh... is he your boyfriend?" Alex asks. I look up at Parker and we both start laughing like crazy. Alex just stands there. He looks so vulnerable. I've never seen him like that.

"Noo." I manage to say between breaths.

"Oh."

"No we're just best friends." Parker says hugging me. "Who are you?"

"I'm Alex."

"Why are you here?" Park asks.

"To deliver another package to Kylie's mother."

"Another? You were here earlier?"

"Yes." Alex says looking at me. I take the package from him and smile.

"Thanks. See ya later." I say and close the door.

"Who is he?" Parker asks. "Well I know he's like your neighbor and his name is Alex but-"

"But what?"

"Are you guys friends? Do you talk in school?"

"Not really. Well he's my partner in class for this project so we will talk but yeah."

"Is he popular? Like bad boy or player or jock?" He is acting like an older brother. I smile.

"Yes, brother." He furrows his eyebrows. "He is popular. He's the player."

"Then stay away from him."

"He lives two houses away and is my partner for class."

"Well duh, you can be by him then. Not any other time."

"Okay."

"Or..." he comes closer to me and lifts my chin up. "I will..." He leans in closer. "Do this." he picks me up and takes me to the couch. He starts tickling me and I'm laughing like mad.

"STOPP YOU BUTTHEAD!!"

"NO!!" He smirks. I put my foot close to the area below his stomach.

"Don't make me kick you." I smile evilly. He mimics me with that same smile.

"You wouldn't"

"Oh I would." He backs up with his hands up for surrender.

"You're evil." He claims.

"I know." I say with a smile as I skip over to him. I kiss him on the cheek. "Thanks for watching over me, Park. I love you dude."

"I love you too, Ky." He kissed me on cheek this time. We walked back over to the couch and started watching TV. I fell asleep not long after.
