Y/N

_

"Are you sure you don't want to come with me?" Peter asked.

I had told him for the third time that I didn't want to go back to school. Especially the day after I threatened Flash.

"Yes, I'm sure," I said, "I'll just go to the park instead."

"I can come with you!"

"No, you have school."

"But making sure you're safe is more important," he pleaded, widening his eyes like a puppy dog.

It didn't work on me. I had too much of a barrier to fall for those pity moments. Besides, it wasn't Peter's job to protect me, he was just supposed to let me stay at his house.

"I can take care of myself," I grunted, "I'm pretty good at it."

"Are you sure?"

"Say one more word, and I'm not saying goodbye."

I never thought those words would ever leave my mouth, but apparently they did. Yesterday night, Peter knocked on my door to make me a deal. He said he'd buy me sandwiches from Delmar's, if I said goodbye every time I left.

It makes people happy, he explained, and if they're happy, they won't find you scary!

"Okay, fine," he pouted, "I'll go to school."

"Thank you."

I picked my backpack up from the floor, reaching my hand in to feel for the video camera. Once I knew it was there, I zipped my bag closed and made my way towards the door. As I grabbed the handle, I heard someone cough behind me. It was Peter.

Turning around, I let out a sigh, "goodbye."

"Bye!"

Swinging the door open, I slipped into the hallway and made my way to the elevator.

The park wasn't too far away, and thankfully it wasn't crowded. There was a small pond in the middle of the area, surrounded by tiny benches. I picked one farthest away from the city area, and sat down.

Pulling out the video camera, I switched it on and pressed record.

"Hello," I said, "it's me again."

I tucked my hair behind my ear, staring at the water in front of me. A small group of ducklings waded past, their tiny feet hidden underneath the waves.

"Those are some ducks," I said showing the camera, "I think they're very cute."

I wasn't good at being a vlogger, and I was glad I didn't have any interest in it. Otherwise I'd be known as a failure in that subject. Clicking the camera off, I set it into my backpack and leaned against the back of the bench.

Peter would like the ducks.

Pulling my phone out of my pocket, I snapped a picture of the fluffy animals, and sent them to him. Almost seconds later, he responded:

SO CUTE
GIVE THEM SOME BREAD

I didn't have any bread to give, although it sounded like a good idea.

I was about to send another picture to Steve and Bucky, but the sound of twigs snapping behind me caught my attention. Flipping around, I looked to see what was going on.

Oh. It was just an old man trying to cross the street. Except that old man was staring at me.

Creepily staring at me.

I probably should get out of here. Standing up, I clutched my backpack to my chest, and started to walk off. Before I could reach the sidewalk, I heard another twig snap.

The old man was still staring at me, but instead was holding something in his hand. He set it down on the bench, before starting to slowly walk off.

How strange.

As soon as he was a fair distance away, I approached the bench, and picked up what he had left behind. It was a small pin that looked new. But that's not what caught my attention. Pictured on the front was a red skull, completed with six tentacles.

Hydra.

I let out a gasp, my heart beating with terror. My eyes scanned the park for the old man, but I was out of luck.

He had disappeared.
