This world is full of too many people who think they are so much better than everyone else, and that makes them think that they can tell each other to go harm or kill themselves. So many people are so fragile from these words that they think the only way to solve their problems is to end it all. We have got to stop this pandemic. Don't think it's not one. This world has been taken over by the disease of abuse.
These last few weeks have been pretty rough on the internet. First, this morning I hear about the Leelah Alcorn story, the poor transgender girl who committed suicide a couple days ago because she wasn't being accepted for who she was. I saw Gerard Way's tweet about it and I had no idea what it was about, then I read through the stories, and I'm just in shock. She did not deserve to die just because no one accepted her. Parents don't see that the way they treat their kids is pretty much why kids depend on social interaction from strangers on the internet, like Leelah did. The sad thing is, we find more and more people who can relate to us on the internet, rather than in our own homes and neighborhoods. We live in a world with so many different religious and culture issues that we can't control anything.
Remember when the whole world freaked out about Robin Williams committing suicide? Things like that are going to keep happening until someone starts something so incredible that every single person with a depression, self-harm, or other issue just stops, and begins to realize how important they really are. We have got to stop telling people they're not worthy of life. Every single person in this world deserves to live life to the fullest. And you know what? Maybe the incredible thing that helps all the depressed people may also help all the murders and rapists to realize they are better than that.
And now, the growing spew of hate from these groups on the internet. The 4chan, the anon? They are trying to do everything in their power to break down the people in the world of internet fandoms. The book-lovers that only post on Instagram to stop themselves from crying because they don't have many "real" friends because they love books? They're the ones getting millions of likes on pictures and compliments on their book choices and love on their fanfiction writing. The band-loving kids that have to listen to their favorite songs over and over to stop themselves from cutting or overdosing on pills because their parents and peers see them as evil? They're getting the nicest compliments on their selfies online because people actually care if they were gone. The LGBT kids who come out on the internet because they're scared of what their family might think? They get so much help from the people online that have gone through the exact same thing, and sometimes it helps them to come out completely.
We don't need to separate the world into black and white anymore. It's got to be stopped. We've got to help our youth become stronger, and the ones who spew hate have got to be controlled. Too many people have already taken their own lives or the lives of others because they've been told they "weren't good enough". Tell everyone you know that they are good enough, and that no matter what they are, or who they are, they matter. You might just save a life or two along the way.
Anyone in any kind of abuse situation can always talk to me.
