Gale smiled. She had predicted correctly. Everit had come for her, and was currently hauling her down the street, one arm around her waist and the other hovering in front of them, just in case Gale accidentally fell over and brought Everit down with her. It turns out being blood deprived was a lot like being drunk. Gale's vision was spinning. Her thoughts were murky, as though they were swimming through foggy water. You could never see exactly what they were ... or focus on them. Suddenly Gale remembered that she broke her promise. She didn't make it to her hexes class.

"What are you smiling about weirdo." Everit muttered, heaving Gale back upright before continuing towards a shadowed building ahead of them. Its windows were closed, musty curtains tugged carelessly over them. Even though it was a vampire's house, the curtains didn't seem to be there to block out light. More to block out people. And It was the middle of the night anyway, so there wasn't much light to avoid. Gale was still weak from lack of blood, but the night had strengthened her slightly. At least now her brain wasn't fuzzy with tiredness and clouded with lack of sleep. It was just regular fuzzy. The curtains above them twitched slightly, allowing an eye shrouded in shadow to be seen peeking through. Gale smiled up at the eye, waving her hand clumsily. The eye narrowed suspiciously, before the curtain was jerked back in place. Gale frowned.

"I was only saying hello."

Everit laughed, shaking her head at her dazed friend."Yeah, but it's the middle of the night, and you don't know them, so you better get used to it."

Gale's frown didn't leave her face. "Get used to what?"

Everit sighed."People not wanting to talk to you."

"But I'm nice. Most of the time. And it's not like I'm high or anything"

"They don't know that. You look like you are."

"But I'm not. And why wouldn't you want to talk to a high person? They're interesting."

"Ah the ways of society. We may never know." Everit finished, smiling to herself. Gale huffed, but her reply was cut off by them reaching the door they had been heading towards. Everit dropped the huge door knocker, the sound created echoing through the empty street. The door opened a crack. The same eye that had been seen peeking through the curtain was staring at them now, looking Everit up and down suspiciously. The eye was slanted, suggesting asian heritage, and was glancing at the two girls as if they were carrying a bomb. Everit stared back, her gaze just as hard and suspicious. Gale sighed.

"I hate to interrupt this little moment you're having, but this silence is really starting to annoy me."

Everit closed her eyes impatiently. "At least we can take comfort in the fact that you're still as anmusing as ever."

"Well," Gale flashed a cheeky grin. "I try." The man opened the door a crack wider, and now part of his face could be seen. A strand of almost black hair was flicked messily over his right cheek, partially obscuring a scar that lay there. The scar was ragged and not at all clean, slicing through the right side of his face and narrowly avoiding his eye. A smaller scar could be seen just beneath it, raking across his face from the corner of his nose down to his jaw. The scars were going in the same direction, suggesting it was a claw mark from some sort of animal.

"Why would a witch help a vampire?" He drawled, eyeing Everit's clearly visible coven mark.

"Because we're friends." Gale said, defiant. The vampire raised his eyebrows. But instead of asking another question, he pulled the door inwards, allowing room for the girls to step inside. Silently he stalked back through the house, shoulders tense. He gave no indication about whether they should follow him or not. Shrugging, Gale looked at Everit.
