My mom closes the patient's door behind her with a frozen look on her face. She turns to her coworkers with the lined papers clipped to her board and sighs. I noted how she slammed the clipboard on the counter. I looked up from my phone, raising a brow.
Regina, the working receptionist at this hour looks at my mom with an amused expression. "Rough patient?" She chuckles, typing something into the computer in front of her.
"This one is so different! We took blood tests, CT scans, even the police tried running his finger prints but he has no trace! It's as if he appeared from thin air." My mom exclaims, my ears perked up.
This patient sounded like fun, someone who's outside the government system always has some sort of story to them. I look down to my phone, pretending to read something while listening to my mom's frustration.
"How long have we had this one again?" My mother asks, leaning on the counter while Regina looked up the patient.
"About two months now," Regina replies, keeping her eyes glued to the screen.
My mother sighs then chuckles quietly before taking a large gulp of water. "I think he's become delusional since the fall. He keeps mouthing off about some place called 'The Land of Fire' and some place called 'Konoha'," She enunciates as I raised my brow with suspicion.
My lips pressed into a thin line as I inwardly sighed. My shoulders slightly sank upon hearing this information and I closed my eyes processing what my mom said.
Of course the whack patient just happens to be a Naruto fanatic.
But I was still curious and wanted to see this guy for myself. I haven't watched one bit of Naruto but a few of my friends have, and they gush way too much about it. So I stood up, walking to the receptionist desk and looking up to my mom.
"Can I visit this guy? He sounds like fun," I smirked while leaning myself over the countertop.
Instantaneously, my mother shook her head. "Asler no. We aren't sure of the amount of damage that this guy has been through I mean— falling off a building with barely a scratch? That's no normal behavior." She shook her head sternly and gave me a warning look.
"Hey! Could be a miracle from God!" I exclaimed unrealistically. I don't even believe in God but I think my mom needed the joke since she was so tense & stressed over this guy.
My mother pokes my forehead, giving me a half-smile. She quirks her brows and scoffs. "Oh really? Since when have you ever been religious?," she questioned as my cheeks flushed red with embarrassment.
I blew a sharp breath then looked down to the ground. "Dad took me to church once, it was kind of... interesting," I muttered, adjusting my sleeves.
She hums. "Well...as long as it's not anything illegal," She nods to herself while going to tend to other patients.
Yes, I am somewhat religious. My dad is with the Christian faith, taking it after his father and even though my mom doesn't follow through with his beliefs, she does respect them and allows me to go to church with my dad from time to time. Family gatherings can become very awkward though since my grandparents are two sides of the same coin.
My eyes glanced through the window of that Naruto-fanatic's room. His hair was bright silver, pointed at an angle. I couldn't see his face but I could already tell that this guy seemed to love Kakashi.
What a whackjob, I thought walking down the hall.
I walked into one of the snack rooms and opened a popsicle from the freezer. My mom is still on her shift and I'm currently on summer break. It wasn't exactly new for me to wander the porcelain halls. Most of the staff knew who I was as I would spend a majority of my days just freely wandering the building.
