"Kennedy, we only have two more years left with each other."

"I know, Chlo." I closed my locker. "We'll just have to make them count."

"Hey, beautiful. I missed you," a familiar voice said from behind me.

"Owen!" I threw my bag down and jumped into my boyfriend's arms. "How was Monaco?"

"It wasn't that great. The French Rivera isn't much fun without you."

"I'll leave you too alone," Chloe said. It wasn't that Chloe was particularly jealous of my relationship with Owen, but she struggled with maintaining relationships. Owen and I have been together for two years, while she can't keep a man for much more than two months. I blame it on her need to sleep around.

"I'll catch you later, Chlo," I called after her. I turned to Owen. "You know I had to spend the summer with my father in Mykonos."

"You could have visited me, Ken. I was only a plane ride away"

"You know I don't like being called that, Owen. And you could've visited me, too. It's a two way street."

He smiled and gave me a peck on the lips. "I should get to first period. I have Mr. Finch and I can't be late." I picked up my bag and started walking toward the west wing.

Owen snickered. "Bye babe, love you."

I ignored his comment and continued walking. For a couple moments, I forgot how he makes me feel. People always ask me why I'm with such a jerk. My reply would always be that I love him, which I do. Behind Chloe, he's my best friend. The thing is that I don't think I'm in love with him anymore. I closed my eyes and sighed. Right then, someone bumped into me. "Oh, I'm so sorry."

"Don't be. I bumped into you." I had never seen this guy before. He was tall; I'd say about six feet, two inches. He looked like a young Clint Mauro. After a couple seconds, he added, "I'm Lucah."

"Does Lucah have a last name?" I teased.

He smiled crookedly. "My name is Lucah Bentley. What's your name?"

"I'm Kennedy Alden. So, Lucah Bentley, where are you going?"

"I have AP Calculus with Mr. Finch."

"That's where I'm headed, too. I'll walk you there." I offered. "Bentley. Did your family found the car company, or the university?"

He smirked. "Both."

I smiled. "Are you a legacy here, Lucah Bentley?"

Lucah shook his head. "No, I was recruited to play lacrosse here. I'm All-American."

"Ah, so you're on an athletic scholarship. That's just what we need around here. Less academically-worthy students." I was only half joking.

"Actually, I transferred here from Kilton Academy. As a sophomore, I scored a 2230 on the SAT. I belong here, Miss Alden. I didn't need any of my daddy's money to get myself accepted here."

My smile quickly faded. "We're here," I sighed.

"Nice to see you on time, Miss Alden," Mr. Finch said. "You can sit where you sat last year." He turned to Lucah. "What's your name, son?"

"Lucah Bentley."

"Behind Miss Alden, please."

I turned around in my seat and stared at him. "I don't know you, but I can already tell that we won't get along. Please stay in your place and don't bother me."

He flashed me a half-smile. "I don't think I can do that, Miss Alden."
