CHAPTER TWO

R O S E    P O V

I took a seat beside Ava and dropped my bag beside the table, "Hello again," Ava said while smiling. She was undeniably beautiful, with her bright blue eyes and straight brunette hair that looked soft. I had the urge to tug at her hair, my hair felt rough compared to hers.

She looked familiar but I couldn't put a finger to it.

She wore a white dress that complemented her complexion well. "Hi," I replied with a small smile. She seemed genuinely friendly.

If I didn't have a crush on her boyfriend I could see us being friends.

Ava pulled her notebook from her backpack and placed it on the table along with a pen. She looked at us and asked, "What days are best for everyone?"

Mustering up the last shreds of courage I have left, I glanced at Elliot, only to find him looking at his girlfriend. Gripping the pencil tightly in my hand, I felt the urge to stab someone.

Rose, control yourself even if you do not know what that is and means. I took a dee[ breath, irritated at my own reaction to this situation because I was getting upset over nothing.

"Mondays work for me," Elliot stated. Ty and Ava both nodded in agreement. I couldn't bring myself to do the same.

"I can't do Mondays," I interjected, catching the attention of Ty and Ava. Meanwhile, Elliot was preoccupied with jotting something down in his journal.

"Well, how about Tuesdays?" I proposed, knowing well that Ty and Elliot have swim practice. I knew they couldn't but I am only free on Tuesdays.

"Ty and Eli can't because they've got swim practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays," Ava pointed out. I hummed in response, acknowledging what she said, but I couldn't do Thursday's either. My gaze shifted towards Elliot. He was still writing in his journal. What is he writing?

"I understand, but Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are packed for me," I explained. Elliot stopped writing and glanced up at me, surprising me and causing my heart to flutter.

"We all need to find a compromise here because we have to meet twice a week," Elliot stated, directing his gaze towards me. I sense a hint of irritation in his voice, piquing my curiosity. I had never seen Elliot angry before, and a part of me wanted to provoke a reaction from him. As he unbuttoned his cuffs and rolled up his sleeves, a hint of his tattoo peeked out. There was a stem with a leaf but I couldn't make out the entire tattoo. He looked even more attractive than before.

Am I really checking him out right now? I sighed inwardly, reminding myself that having such thoughts would only make it harder for me to move on from him.

"How about the weekends?" Ty suggested. I could easily do the weekends, but decided to test Elliots patience and said, "I can't do the weekends either," a mischievous smile played against my lips as I watched his reaction. Bingo.

"Why? What's keeping you busy?" Ty inquired, his grin widening as he glanced between me and Elliot.

"I've got to do the dishes," I replied with a grin, teasing them a bit, though there was some truth to it. So I am not lying entirely. After all, I did have ice skating practice five times a week. Elliot reached for his water bottle, taking a sip, and I found myself tempted to touch his Adam's apple as it bobbed while he drank. Focus. I reminded myself sternly. All I needed was a reaction from Elliot and then I'd leave him alone.

"Are you working as a dish washer at a diner or something?" Ty asked.

"No," I simply said.

Intrigued, Ty asked, "Then where do you wash the dishes?"
