CHAPTER ONE

ROSE'S POV

"I love you."

His piercing emerald gaze locked with mine, widening in surprise. I couldn't blame him after all it was our first encounter. The intensity of his stare was indescribable. Tousled rich brown curls, cascaded over his forehead, as he casually held his textbooks at his side. Among the bustling crowd of students, a gentle breeze brushed past us, sending a shiver down my spine sweeping the warmth away. The aroma of his cologne enveloped me into a warm hug, a comforting blend of wood and dusky forest. If his scent was this captivating from a distance, what would it be like if it would be up close?

I couldn't help but notice a few strands of his hair drifting over his eyes. Despite any effort to divert my gaze from him. I found myself utterly captivated by him, unable to look away. His eyebrows knit in confusion. He straightened his posture, standing tall. A nonchalant sweep of his hand pushed back his hair, revealing a dark brown shirt, matching his eyes. Silver rings on each finger, adding a touch of personality, and a delicate silver chain peeking from beneath his collar.

Normally, his tattoos are displayed like a canvas on his pale skin, but today they were nowhere to be found. I have seen his tattoos afar and not up close, making me regretful. The chance to admire his ink up close had slipped through my fingers.

I should have bumped into him so that I could have seen a glimpse of his tattoos. I groaned internally. I should've planned this encounter better, I thought.

Regret, the chance to admire his ink up close had slipped through my fingers. I sighed internally, maybe next time.

His lips, tinted pink, drew into a subtle smile, revealing hidden dimples that enhanced his beauty. Glossy skin, captivating an undeniable charm. A slight cough caught my attention, and I noticed his discomfort as he averted his gaze. His pale white cheeks turned into a delicate shade of a rose. He's blushing. A smile formed at the corners of my lips in response to this sight.

Never thought I'd see a sight.

"Didn't anyone tell you that staring is impolite?" He asked, my heart was doing somersaults over a clif inside me as he spoke. I had to keep my cool.  His eyes diverted towards the lockers, not making eye contact.

"It's your fault that you're breathtaking," I teased, trying to keep my voice steady despite the excitement bubbling inside me.

His cheeks flushed from a rosey pink to a cherry red, and even the tips of his ears seemed to turn no bright. Taking a step closer, I tried to meet his gaze, feeling the warmth radiating from his embarrassed face. Slowly, he turned towards me, but as soon as our eyes met he jolted back. Immediately taking a couple steps back. His shyness only attracted me more to him.

With a gentle gesture, he motioned for me to maintain some distance, and I couldn't help but smile wider. His adorable reactions made it really hard for me to contain my eagerness.

"What are you doing?" he asked, a hint of concern lacing his words as he cautiously watched me,  slightly worried that I might do something to him. Him being cautious was a relief, since I wasn't sure what I might impulsively do in the moment. The temptation to make a move on him was strong but I knew better than to act on it. Sadly.

"Don't worry, I'm not about to pull anything on you," I reassured him. "Do you think there's a chance for us?"

He hesitated, his hand found its way to the back of his neck, a nervous gesture that didn't escape my notice. The uncertainty on his face said it all.
