Louise Remington was never one to stay out late-or even go out, for that matter. She was the polar opposite of her brother, Louis. It seemed as if the one letter difference threw them off onto different paths.
Louis was friends with the entire student body; Louise was friends with the beanbag in the library. The library, which only about 2% of the school knew existed.
Louise bet half the school didn't know how to read, or at least appreciate the books and their stories.
So the day when her ungrateful little prat of a brother took every single book in their house away from her, she cried. She sat down on her bright pink beanbag and bawled whilst wasting away from boredom.
Louis then decided to strike up a deal with her. He crept into her pastel-colored room and plopped down opposite Louise.
"What do you want?" She groaned.
"Let's make a deal."
"Okay..." Louise mumbled unsurely.
"I give you back each and every book we own if-and only if-you, Louise Ann Remington, agree to go with me, Louis Anthony Remington, to a party later today."
Oh no, Louise thought. "But I haven't even been to a birthday party!" She whined. "Much less a high school party!"
"Come on, please?" Louis pleaded. "It'll be fun!"
"That's what they all say." Louise grumbled, but the urge to hold one of her precious books again was too strong. "Fine, I'll go."
"Yes!" Louis pumped his fist in the air. "Now you'll know what it's like to have fun!"
"Reading books is fun!" Louise argued.
"Is not."
"Is too!"
"Will both of you just shut up?"Their older sister, Lucy, moaned from her room across the hall.
Lucy was just ten months older than the twins, so they were often mistaken as triplets because they were all in their senior year. And Lucy absolutely despised that. She wanted nothing to do with her younger siblings.
"Don't tell us what to do!" Louis yelled back and turned to Louise once again. "The party is tonight. Don't sweat it."
"O-ok." Louise stuttered. "Can I have my books back now?"
"Not until tomorrow, after the party."
"How do I know I'll get them back?" Louise challenged.
"Why would I keep them?"
"To blackmail me even more."
"I hadn't even thought of that!" Louis exclaimed. "I'll have to take your offer into consideration."
"Louis!" He was really starting to get on her nerves.
"Fine." He gave up his ruthless ways. "But I suggest you start getting ready now."
He left Louise to her thoughts only moments later.
This was going to be a disaster.
