Bambam and Yugyeom both change in a kind of uncomfortable silence. Bambam is done first, so he leaves the room. Yugyeom doesn't try to hurry up and is soon done putting on his clothes. He walks out of the room, and walks downstairs, trying to see if he can find any of his friends. He doesn't see any of them, so he just sighs, walking toward the kitchen to get himself a drink. Once he's there, he's surprised to see an omega getting harassed by a beta.

"Hey, leave him alone," Yugyeom scowls, going to the omega's aid.

"Do you know who you're talking to?" the beta growls.

"A dumb bitch, that's who I'm talking to," Yugyeom grumbles. "Now leave, before I get one of the guards to get kick you out."

The beta scoffs. "You can't do that."

"Wanna bet?"

The beta seems a bit reluctant, not wanting to listen to an omega's orders, before he finally lets out a huff, and walks away. Yugyeom internally sighs in relief. He wasn't sure if his 'plan' was going to work out, and he's glad it is because then he wouldn't know what to do.

"Th-thank you for that," the other omega finally speaks up, looking at Yugyeom. "I-I thought he was going to harm me."

"You're welcome." Yugyeom gives the other a small smile. "You should know how to defend yourself, though. Us omegas can't always let betas and alphas boss us around."

The other nods. "I-I know. I'm just still kind of scared."

"Don't be," Yugyeom assures. He sticks out his hand. "My name's Yugyeom."

The other omega smiles and shakes Yugyeom's hand. "Nice to meet you. My name's Mark."

"Do you have a mate yet?" Yugyeom asks.

Mark's face turns a bit red, but he shakes his head. "Ah, no. I-I'm still waiting for the right guy."

Yugyeom just nods, serving himself a cup of iced tea. "Do you at least have a crush on someone yet?"

Mark shyly nods. "Yeah, but I don't think he'll ever notice me. Do you have or mate or a crush?"

"A mate no, but a crush yes," Yugyeom replies. "But I don't think he'll ever like me."

"We can still dream, right?" Mark chuckles, and Yugyeom nods in agreement.

"Yeah, we can," he says. "Are you here alone?"

Mark shakes his head. "I came with my friend Youngjae, but he abandoned me to go have sex with someone."

Yugyeom lets out a small laugh. "Mine did, too, but with their mates. What great friends we have."

"I know, right?" Mark agrees, and they both laugh.

For the next thirty minutes, Mark and Yugyeom spend it together. They can't find their other friends, and a friendship is blooming between them, so they just talk and play around. They don't plan on getting drunk, so they either drink water or juice. Soon, it is 11:59, so they lean against the wall, waiting for Bambam.

"Who do you think is his mate?" Mark asks.

"Probably his girlfriend," Yugyeom sighs. 

"He has a girlfriend?" Mark seems surprised.

Yugyeom nods. "Yeah. She didn't come today, because apparently, she was 'busy.' She's a fake one if you ask me."

"Do you have any idea who his girlfriend might be?" Mark questions.

Yugyeom shrugs. "I dunno." But one thing Yugyeom does know is that he hopes he'd be Bambam's mate, yet that'll only happen in a million years.

"Hey, Bam, it's almost midnight," one of his friends, Im Jaebum, reminds as he checks the time.

"So?" Bambam says.

Another one of Bambam's friends, Jackson Wang, rolls his eyes. "Don't you remember what that means, idiot?"

Bambam is a bit confused for a few seconds before he finally realizes. "Oh. What time is it?"

"11:57," Jaebum replies. "Who do you think your mate's going to be?"

Bambam shrugs. "I don't really care."

"So even if it's a guy, you still wouldn't care?" Jackson asks teasingly.

Well, if it's Yugyeom, then no- Wait, what the fuck? "Yes. Ew, I don't want my mate to be a guy," Bambam frowns, but deep inside he knows he does.

"Even if it is a guy, you can still reject him," another of Bambam's friends, Park Jinyoung, points out.

"I know," Bambam mutters, taking a sip of his drink. His eyes scan the crowd as he subconsciously searches for a familiar omega. His eyes land on him, seeing him talking with another omega Bambam recognizes as Mark Tuan. He and Yugyeom are both engaged in a conversation, laughing as they lean against the wall. Yugyeom doesn't seem to notice someone's eyes are on him, so Bambam continues to stare at him.

"Yo, Bam, it's 11:59 now," Jaebum says.

"Get ready," Jackson adds.

"I know," Bambam says, and takes another sip of his drink.

A few seconds pass, and the clock strikes midnight. Nothing happens to Bambam yet, but then he feels a tingly feeling in his stomach, and his nose catches a scent: vanilla and lavender. Bambam's eyes widen, and his eyes immediately dart toward the person he knows the scent belongs to—Yugyeom.

"Well, it's midnight now," Mark says as he checks the time. "Is Bambam searching his mate now?"

"I don't know," Yugyeom mutters, and he scans the crowd to see if he can find Bambam. He soon finds the alpha's eyes rapidly searching the crowd, and Yugyeom knows Bambam knows he found his mate. "Yeah, he is."

"Who is she?" Mark asks.

"I don't know. He isn't really looking at her right now."

Mark gasps. "What if it's a guy?"

"Probably," Yugyeom mumbles, but he knows Bambam would reject his male mate in a heartbeat. Yugyeom continues to look at Bambam, then the two lock eyes. Bambam looks at Yugyeom with a predatory gaze, and Yugyeom feels like looking away, but he can't—his body isn't letting him.

And that only means one thing.

Bambam and Yugyeom are mates.

"O-oh my god," he mutters, almost choking on his saliva.

"Woah, you okay, Yugyeom?" Mark worriedly asks.

"I-I'm fine," Yugyeom hoarsely replies, taking a sip of his drink. He looks back up, seeing Bambam still looking at him. Then he sees Bambam heading toward him, and the next thing Yugyeom knows, Bambam is standing in front of him.

"We need to talk," Bambam says.

"O-okay," Yugyeom says, ignoring the confused look Mark is giving him. Yugyeom looks at Mark. "I-I'll be right back," he tells him before he lets himself be dragged away by Bambam.
