Okay, saw this really interesting writing prompt on Pinterest that was taken from twitter. Ctto! I just had to write about it!

You stood in front of the bathroom mirror, completely nude. The twin, black handprints above your chest were the most prominent features throughout your whole body.

"A soulmate?" You scoffed. "More like a pervert or something."

It's said that people are born with these black marks, and when your soulmate touches them, they flash a million colors before disappearing. You've seen other peoples' marks. Many of them consisted of small, blacked out areas, but no one had ever seen full, adult-sized handprints before.

As you gathered your things for work, the news served as background noise. "Police Officer, Sawamura Daichi, awarded for bravery as a result of his actions during a difficult situation..." Glancing at the television, you smiled slightly.

"What a great person." You chuckled. "If only someone like that could be my soulmate." For some reason, you were hellbent on your soulmate being a breast fanatic.

After quickly shutting off the television, you began to head to work. For you, it seemed like a normal day.

Your usual routine included stopping by the closest cafe for coffee and a pastry, checking your email on the train, and sitting in an office for who-knows-how-long.

"Another day." You sighed.

Sawamura Daichi rolled out of bed and said a quick 'good morning' to his best boy, a rowdy dog named Yuu.

He turned on the news as he began whipping up breakfast. Today was his day off, and he was going to bask in it.

Don't take it sideways, he loves his job! But even heroes need breaks sometimes. The male stared at his black palms and sighed.

If he had to guess, his first touch with his soulmate would include a high-five, but this meant that they would also have pitch black hands. Sadly for him, he hadn't ever come across anyone with with black palms—anywhere.

"Here's some eggs, Yuu." Sawamura called out as he heard his name being mentioned on the news. At the sound of the word eggs, the dog became visibly overjoyed.

That was when Sawamura remembered there was an early bird sale happening at the grocery store near the department.

"I'm gonna head out for a bit, boy." The male stated before putting on a quick change of clothes. After bidding the dog farewell, he ended up leaving the apartment. The raven haired male speed walked his way to the nearest train station.

As you stood on the platform, waiting for your usual mode of transportation, a slight ache came from your chest. You clenched the area in attempt to dismiss the pain, but it only grew worse.

Sawamura, who had coincidentally pulled up next to you, noticed the pain you were in and asked if you were okay.

Due to your lightheadedness and short breaths, there was no way for you to respond. Right after this, your body crumbled down. The male, trained for these situations, had managed to convince you to lay down, but that was the moment when you lost consciousness.

Others gasped at the sight of your slumped body. "Don't worry, I'm a police officer! Someone call for an ambulance!" Sawamura reassured the crowd. He pulled out his phone and used the flashlight to test whether your pupils would dilate or not, and after that he checked your heart rate and responsiveness. Before he knew it, you had begun turning pale.

He understood what he had to do.

"Can someone see if the station has an AED?!" He was shouting at the bystanders as he ripped open your collared shirt, exposing the skin on your chest. He unconsciously placed his hands on the black marks, but simply brushed over them, starting CPR.

The once-black marks on your chest had bursted into a colorful array before disappearing.

The sight of the nonexistent handprints on your chest surprised him, but this was no time for him to be in awe about finding his soulmate.

He needed to save your life first.

As Sawamura continually went on, he began to bust a sweat. Thankfully, the ambulance had come, and the EMT's had decided to take over. You woke up shortly after this.

"We're taking her to the hospital. Are you an acquaintance of hers?" The EMT's asked the male.

"N-No." He shook his head. It was the truth. He didn't know you, and you didn't know him. There was no way he could follow you to the hospital and simply burst out with, 'I'm your soulmate.' He had to wait.

When the ambulance left, someone from the news had come to interview him. In all honestly, Sawamura had no idea what to say.

After a few days of monitoring, the hospital sent you home with medication for your heart. You groaned in relief at the sight of the apartment complex. Home. At. Last.

"Are you doing better?" The young, female receptionist asked curiously. "I recognize you from a video on the internet."

"Video?" You questioned, urging her to show you.

"Yeah, you've got nice pectorals." She chuckled.

From what you could see, someone was doing CPR on your lifeless body. When the camera shifted angles, you noticed that your black chest marks were gone. Being in the hospital, you noticed that your marks were gone, but you didn't know when they had disappeared.

"D-Did he do CPR the whole time??" You eagerly asked, pointing to the man in the video.

"Yup!" The young girl clasped her hands together. "You're so lucky! Mr. Policeman saved you!"

"Mr. Policeman?" You questioned. "Who's that?"

"Ughhhh he's such a hunk. AND he lives here! You've never seen him?" She asked, a baffled expression fell over her features.

"Never." You informed her.

"He lives in the apartment next to you!" She whined. "Do you not go out? Like, at all?"

"The apartment next to me?" You were in deep thought. "Oh! That man with the dog!"

"Exactly!" She nodded.

"Okay, well, I'm going to give my thanks." You quickly rushed upstairs and stopped before his apartment door.

'Do I knock? What should I do? What should I even say?' The socially-awkward you had no idea what to do in situations where you thank others for saving your life.

You hadn't felt this excited to meet someone since... well, forever.

Before you could make your presence known, the door opened.

"Are you going to stand out there forever?" An amiable, yet deep voice asked from the other side of the door. "You're driving Yuu crazy." Your eyes widened and you had to wonder how long the dog had been standing by the door.

"I-Ijustwanttosaythankyouforsavingmylife!" You quickly blurted out.

"That's it?" He chuckled, understanding your intent. The male smoothly guided you into his apartment. "You have to know what we are to one another by now."

"Soulmates?" You asked to confirm.

"Right." Sawamura brushed a strand of hair out of your face, tucking it behind your ear. "But since that's kind of intimidating to think about, how about we start with dating?"

You nodded. The feeling of his rough hand against your face made your cheeks burn bright red. He was the complete opposite of what you though your soulmate was going to be like, and you let that thought soak in.

"I'm Sawamura Daichi, a police officer." He extended his hand. "Nice to meet you."
