The first day of the selection was a rather nerve-racking one, the dear prince Maxon eliminated three girls right off the bat.
I sighed already bored of this story and flipped the pages more towards the middle.
America almost caught me today, the princess family was over for a visit, and me and my darling love had planned to meet in the sun room. She walked in and saw me waiting, luckily she only assumed I was upset.
Woahhh, so she was having a secret affair! Interesting.
I flip through more pages until a specific word caught my eye.
War is coming.
The Illean castle has been attacked four times now. It could be any one of our allies, none agree with King Maxon, and Queen America's act officially disintegrating the caste system.
They claim it gives they're own citizens reason to revolt, in my eyes they are all idiots for not following our examples.
Anyways. The princess is having her selection soon, I don't understand how she isn't excit-
Okay that's enough of that. This book is written as if it was Marlee's diary or something, I flip a few more pages and stop when I see another head liner about the war.
After Eadlyn and Eikko married everything turned upside down. We've been attacked four times in just the past week and it doesn't seem as if it's going to let up.
The allies are outraged by her choice to marry a man who wasn't even running in the selection.
We've recently concluded that our attackers is our most closest ally...the French.
Soon we may need to fight back.
Holy crap, how the heck do you pronounce that name.
I flip another page before continuing.
We've found that the French is not working alone, they've teamed with another country; Alvina.
What?!
There is not much known of this country, other than the fact that they are brutal. And have murdered thousands of innocents.
I close the book taking a breath. What does MY country have anything to do with this place? I flip a few more pages before continuing.
King Eikko and his troops along with the prince have gone off to war, they currently are waging between the French and Alvina. We can only hope for the bes
The words are cut off there and I flip the page confused.
We lost.
The king as well as the prince have fallen in war, only thirty or so soldiers came back to tell the tale.
Alvina is taking over, Illea is lost.
The new King has taken over, thankfully in my old age I won't live to see next year.
A single tear slips down my cheek.
I'm done writing, may God be with us all.
I turn the page and realize it's the last.
Jesus christ, this thing was written like sixty years ago.
Anyways, I'm Marlee's great granddaughter and I decided to finish for her.
The King re-established the caste system but only in a different way, we now have districts. Not much better huh? Anyways poverty is at its all time high now with less and less food coming in for the lower districts.
