- 5th period never seems to end leaving the kids feeling antsy for lunch
- The bell finally decides to ring and the kids nearly run out of the classroom ignoring the teachers last uttered words about having some paper signed by tomorrow
- Asahi and Tommie are the last to leave due to Asahi taking his time gathering his supplies upThomas: (Starting to get impatient he seizes Asahi's arm trying to drag him away. Leaving Asahi struggling to reach his bag before they leave.) Hurry up Asa! I'm starving over here! (As if on cue his stomach lets out a grumble of agreement. He chuckles and Asahi gives a small smile.) See! Now lets go! (Snatching Asahi's arm up in his he starts to run down the hall. Asahi stumbles trying not to trip as they rush off to the cafeteria.)
- Once in the cafeteria there's a buzz of noise all around as kids strike up unfinished or new conversations, trays slam on tables, sporks scrap against trays, and of course the occasional scolding from a lunch lady
- In line Asahi and Tommie take what's appealing to them
- Tommie piles all sorts of food on his tray in a mountain fashion
- Asahi picks at certain food unsure before setting it on his tray neatly (The school he went to before didn't have questionable food like this one does.)
- Food in hand they hunt for a place to eat their meal. Just a few feet ahead they find an unoccupied table calling for them.
- Sitting down Tommie immediately starts digging in
- Asahi lays his napkin on his thigh then opens his milk taking a sip
- Involved in their lunch they hear someone clear their throat. Spork half way to his open mouth, Tommie looks up in surprise. Asahi's demeanor screams discomfort as his eyes grow wide.Angelo: (Not looking nearly as confident as he did earlier but some how managing the same death stare. He clears his throat making eye contact first with Asahi who looks as if he is about to faint, then at Tommie who gives him a dorky smile.) Mind if I sit here?
Thomas: (A goofy grin in place.) Of course not!
Asahi: (Looking frightened.) Y-Yeah, (shook up he quickly corrects himself) I mean n-no, come sit. Sorry. (He looks down studying his food intently avoiding eye contact.)Angelo: (Gives a small shrug at Asahi's apology before sitting down in front of them.) It's fine. Thanks. ( Ignoring them now he starts on lunch.)
- A few minutes past before Tommie makes conversation with Asahi on why he moved to the states.
- Curiosity evident in his wide eyes.Thomas: (He scoots his bottom over to Asahi more so he can hear him better over the chatter in the air.) I've only seen pictures of Tokyo! It's so huge!(Motions with his hands how big.) I would get lost easy! I've been in Brooklyn for a year and I can't figure out the trains still! (Pink appears on his cheeks in embarrassment.)
Asahi: (Uncomfortably chuckles at Tommie's mannerisms while eyeing Angelo.) Growing up there makes it seem not as big, but being new there I can see how it would frighten you at first. Maybe we...uh...we could hang out, o-outside of school and I can show you how the trains work.
Thomas: (Eyes widening more he leans into Asahi's shoulder.) Wow! That would be great!(Waves his hand toward Angelo in excitement.) Hey?! Hey Angelo?! (Asahi looks to and from Tommie and Angelo perturbed. He try's to comprehend why Tommie is trying to talk to this unpleasant boy.) You could come with us! It would be a lot of fun! (Seeing Angelos expression he settles down with a look of uncertainty.)
Angelo: (Glowering at Tommie before harshly replying back.) Just because I'm sittin here doesn't mean I wanna be ya best damn friend! Leave me alone.
Asahi: (Eyebrows knitted in irritation by Angelos remark he timidly attempts to stick up for Tommie.) T-That was rude! (Angelo quirks an eyebrow at him.) H-He was only trying to- (Tommie interrupts him before he can finish by placing his hand gently on Asahi's forearm.)
