Tamaki couldn't sleep.
Like any other people, it wasn't the first time he'd experienced this. The anxiety of what tomorrow would bring, the dread of having to deal with people, and the fear of failure always kept him wide awake more often than he'd like to admit.
But those weren't the only reasons why he wasn't able to even doze tonight. Rather, it was the fact that you'd moved to the house in front of him.
You, his longtime crush, was officially his neighbor as well.
He remembered how he basically froze when he heard your angelic voice calling his name on one morning. Despite the gloomy sky, your face was still as radiant as ever. You'd waved and greeted him, expressing your pleasure of being his neighbor.
Pleasure as in... you were happy to be with him.
Tamaki knew that it wasn't good to delude himself into thinking that you were truly glad to meet him. It could be a mere pleasantry, for all he knew. Despite being in the same class, you rarely talked to each other - him being too much of a nervous wreck to even utter a single greeting, and you being too focused on your own life.
He really couldn't blame you for wanting to be polite to your classmate, even if it hurt him.
As always, he expected something more to happen, only to end up being disappointed instead.
But that was okay. At least, he was finally one step closer to you now, regardless of how far the destination seemed.
Even if he could only watch you through the slit of your curtains, it was still a progress, right?
