Roseanne's POV.
"How long have you worked for her?" I asked Bogum.
"Awhile."
"Do you consider her a friend?"
He laughs. "We have a professional relationship but she does come to me for advise when she's desperate. If you're wondering if I know what transpired between you and Ms. Manoban the answer is yes. Not everything but I know the gist of it."
"Oh. Okay."
I was hoping he would say what he did know so I would have some sort of guideline on what I can and can't say. What I can't and can ask. I had some burning questions I want to ask but I didn't want to pry. I don't want Lisa to feel like I'm meddling in her life. Or too afraid to ask her things I want to know. I know she would tell me everything except what I really want to know which is why she left a man for dead but Bogum probably wouldn't know that or maybe he would.
"We have a long drive ahead of us and she's our common ground and even though she's an open book about most things there are some things I want to ask about her from someone besides her."
"I think I understand that."
"I don't know what or how much she told you but w-we, she...I-"
"Breathe." He commanded gently and I do. "Now ask me."
"Do you think she loves me?"
"Yes."
"How do you know?"
"You're the only one I've seen her with since the night you showed up at her club. She mentioned you. Nothing monumental but before you she never talked to me about the women in her life."
"What did she say about me?"
"She said 'I've never met a woman less interested in me than the woman I just met. A shame since I've never been more interested in someone in my life. Just my luck, since she's attached to someone else.'"
"I can't imagine what you must think of me."
"It doesn't matter what I think. What matters is that you made the best choice for you."
"Do you have a daughter?"
"Three."
"If one of them did what I did what would you say to her."
"What I just told you." I can't meet his eyes because I feel like he's judging me not that he's judgmental but because I can't stop judging and punishing myself. "When you think about the future you think you're going to have the white picket fence, golden retriever, and 2.5 kids. What we don't realize is life has to challenge us so that we can grow. If you truly love her you have to believe that she's worth some hard work right?"
I nodded. "I'm sorry for what I did but I can't make myself believe that I would take it back even if I could. I crazy love her." I admitted "Thank you. I think you missed you're calling as a therapist."
"My wife's a marriage counselor."
"That makes sense." I'm glancing out the window when I ask "How old are your daughters?"
"Seven, twelve, and fourteen."
"Any sons?"
"No."
"Did you want sons?"
"No." he laughs. "Daughters aren't simple but I like the unconditional love I get from them. They're always happy to see me. I grew up with five brothers and I don't remember any of us running to my dad when he came home."
