Ever since you decided to help out the student council members with their work, you couldn't help but notice how Keito seemed to be avoiding you all the time. For the first few months, you had thought it was because he didn't like you and deemed you as someone who wasn't worthy of assisting the student council members but after another couple of months had passed, you began to notice a change of demeanor from him.
At first, whenever you spoke to him, Keito would shift his eyes and end conversations off quickly, rarely giving you any time to speak about anything. If it wasn't regarding work, he didn't want to hear about it and that was how he was, but now it felt like Keito was actually okay with talking to you. He would even go as far as to asking you about your personal affairs like 'what did you do on the weekend?' and 'have you been studying well?'. At this point, you could proudly tell yourself that perhaps you and Keito were actually friends.
(A/N: the way I forgot where I was going with this story... anyways...)
As time flew by, the two of you became inseparable, spending most of your after school activities towards organizing and clearing out all of the student council paperwork that Eichi had piled up from being away. The little bits of small talk that was shared between the two of you showed how much Keito had come to soften up towards you and all you could do was smile and reciprocate the small talk back. Knowing all of this, you were confidently one step closer to becoming on good terms to the infamous Hasumi, Keito.
But once spring had come around, you began to notice that Keito's old and cold nature was becoming more prevalent. He began to avoid you more and even cut plans short, using half-hearted excuses like 'I have plans' or 'I'm busy'. Afraid of returning to the old days, you eagerly called out to him one day,
"H..Hasumi-senpai!" you said softly.
Keito only looked at you with confused eyes, "Sorry, I'm in a bit of a hurry... is this matter important?" he asked as he turned his head around to glance at you.
Standing listlessly, the words that wanted to escape your mouth refused to come out. You didn't know how to approach him, being that you were afraid you'd say something that might be hurtful and inconsiderate, so you could only reach your hand out to him in silence.
"I... uh..." you mumbled under your breath as you watched Keito's head turn around.
"If it's not important, you can tell me this tomorrow. Until then," he said as he walked off into the corridor.
You watched as Keito walked off and at that moment you could feel your heart sting with pain. It was a feeling that you had never experienced before, leaving you confused and sad as you clenched your hands into a fist. You let out a small 'tsk' before you suddenly felt a hand onto your shoulder causing you to jump from the unexpected touch.
"Y/N-dono! I did not mean to scare you but I had been calling out to you and you were not responding... I WILL COMMIT SEPPUKU AT ONCE FOR MY CRIMES!!" Souma had shouted as he unsheathed his katana from his hip and moved it against his stomach.
"SOUMA-KUN!? No, no, no!! You don't need to commit seppuku... and put your sword away! That's dangerous!!" You shouted at him as he quickly followed your words and put his sword back into its sheath. "Right away, Y/N-dono!"
You could only facepalm at Souma's quick reaction to your words and then questioned what he wanted from you since he was trying to get your attention,
"Hasumi-dono had asked me to assist him inside the garden terrace's kitchen, but unfortunately I got called to a club meeting, so therefore I cannot go. I was wondering if you would be willing to assist Hasumi-dono in my place, Y/N-dono."
Souma's words were sincere and because of that, you knew you could not let your classmate down, so you agreed to help Keito in his place with a heavy heart. Souma bowed deeply to you in full gratitude as he ran off to his clubroom and with that, you went towards the kitchen where Souma had said Keito would be. When you arrived to the kitchen, you could see that the door had been cracked open and before entering, you decided to take a small peek of the inside. Like Souma had stated, Keito was inside by the main counter, looking like a mess with flour all over his uniform.
'Why is Hasumi-senpai... baking?' you thought to yourself. As you were observing him from behind the door, your curiosity began to grow causing you to accidentally push the door wide open, exposing yourself to Keito's field of view. You felt a chill run down your spine as the two of you met eye to eye. Knowing well that Keito was going to question you, so you quickly tried to explain yourself,
"H..Hasumi-senpai, it's not what it looks! Souma-kun asked me to assist you in his place because he got called to club activities... I..I wasn't spying on you, I promise!" you shouted as you bowed deeply to show how sorry you were.
You waited for his response as the anticipation of his cold words caused you to clench your hands into tight fists once more but... there was no response. The quiet atmosphere of the room filled your heart with tension, forcing you to lift your chest and look towards him, only to find that the cold-hearted VP was blushing.
"H..Hasumi-senpai--"
"D..Don't just stand there, c..come help me then, Y/N" Keito said as he shifted his eyes to the side in an embarrassed way.
You nodded your head and rushed to his side, putting on an apron to make sure your uniform wouldn't get dirty like his. As you helped him, the two of you rarely spoke outside of the small talk regarding the instructions he had to give to you. It was a little nostalgic and this feeling made your heart warm, causing you to smile foolishly.
"Y/N, here..." Keito said as he pulled you out from your little nostalgic daydream and shoved a platter of chocolate cookies in front of you.
"Hasumi-senpai, this is--"
"The cookies we baked together, they were supposed to be for you. By the way, you can call me by my first name. (it's not fair that Kanzaki gets to be called by his first name by you...)," Keito said as he mumbled the later parts of his words.
(A/N: Oh, Keito's jealous~)
You blushed deeply at Keito's words and nod,
"K..Keito-senpai... thank you!!"
