"I think you need to speak to him," Y/BF/N took her eyes off the decorative cake that sat on a pink clothed table and looked at her pregnant best friend who was in distraught to say the least.

"Why do I need to?" Y/N huffed in annoyance as she didn't feel the need to utter any words to the man that she hated with every fiber in her body.

It took everything in her to invite him to her baby shower today as she really didn't want to fuck with him unless it was for doctor's appointments and for the delivery of their daughter in the next couple of weeks.

"Because he is still the father of your child," Y/BF/N said matter of fact as it was easy coming from her lips to the ears of the stubborn woman in front of her.

Y/BF/N couldn't stand the cheater herself, but her god child needed both parents to at least stand in the room together and not letting their small interactions with each other turn into a full out brawl.

"No," Y/N stubbornly shook her head as she decided it wasn't necessary and continued to make her plate of food that was made by her mother and as well as her grandmother.

"Well, that's too damn bad," Y/BF/N rolled her eyes playfully as she settled on the meatballs instead of the pasta salad

"Well, that's too damn bad," Y/BF/N rolled her eyes playfully as she settled on the meatballs instead of the pasta salad. "He's heading your way as we speak."

"What do you mean he's heading my way?" Y/N tried to gain the attention of Y/BF/N, but failed as she just giggled her ass to the salad bar.

Feeling another prescience beside, she knew it was him as she could smell the cologne that she got him hooked on when they were together.

"Hey," Jackson decided to be the first one to break the ice as he felt the cold shoulder from his ex from a mile away.

"Good afternoon," Y/N formally spoke as she didn't even give him no type of eye contact as she made her way to her designated table that she was assigned as the lady of the hour and by her mother.

She didn't really want to have a conversation with this man if it was at all possible. She wanted to have a good day and enjoy her baby shower that was hosted by her extended family. Not reminiscing on a past that made her blood boil to this very day.

"How are you?" Jackson asked with a wavering voice as he decided to take a seat next to the mother of his unborn child. He was very honest with his question as there wasn't a day that would go by that he was worried by Y/N.

His past actions didn't show how much he loved that woman and he could never forgive himself for messing up a great thing he had at home waiting for him.

"Better than ever," Y/N gave a dry response as she picked up a meatball from her paper plate with her fork and stuffed it into her mouth.

At the end of the day, her and her baby had to eat and nothing could ruin their appetites.

Even if it was Jackson that we were speaking of.

"You look as beautiful as ever," he decided to try again as he could here the chatter that surrounded him by people who was very supportive of the human they were bringing into the world.

"Read the room Jackson," Y/N rolled her tired eyes at the man beside her as she didn't feel like hearing the lies coming from that mouth of his.

She went eight and a half months without him trying to sweet talk her and she was going to keep going in that same direction rather he liked it or not.

"I'm not trying to do anything," Jackson ran his large hands through his hair in frustration. "I feel like it is the right time to win you back."

"There's no winning me back Jackson," Y/N frowned at him and tried to think what crack he was smoking. "You lost that only chance with me when you went hoeing around."

"And I regret that," he tried to continue, but stopped as he saw the winced that Y/N showed on her make-up free face. "Is something wrong?"

"I think that meatball did not agree with the baby," Y/N moved around in her chair in discomfort as the people around them ate, oblivious to the scene that was going on with the parents-to-be.

"Do you need me to take you to the hospital?" Jackson asked with a sense of urgency as he really didn't know what was happening, but was ready to do anything that needed to be done.

"I don't need nothing from you," Y/N bitterly chuckled, earning a grown from the target that the comment that was thrown at him.

"Y/N, will you ever for-," Jackson wanted to say, but stopped mid-sentence as he saw the annoyed, but scared look on Y/N's face.

"What's wrong?" Jackson got up from his seat and wanting to aide in anything that Y/N wanted him to do.

"I think you do need to take me to the hospital," Y/N said in realization as she felt like she was peeing. "Our daughter is coming sooner than we expect.0

"Oh damn," was the last thing Jackson said before Y/N let out a strangled cry for help.
