"Hey, April!" Ms.Donna called. April smiled and went to the locker rooms to change. She wore a light pick off the shoulder tee shirt and black capri's. She expertly laced up her point shoes and went to Classroom 3A to stretch. She held on to the bar and brought her leg up to her head so her body formed a bow and arrow. Then, while she jumped, twirled, cartwheeled, and ended in a perfect spilt, Ms. Donna came in. "Amazing as always, April!" she exclaimed. "Now you will be happy to know that today is when I announce the big news!" April stared on in excitement. Ms. Donna pretended to do a drum roll, "You will be Clara at our Nutcracker performance!" April jumped in glee and gave her teacher a bear hug- her strength was surprising of her petite figure. Ms. Donna showed her the moves for the opening dance. April was a quick learner from having watched the play multiple times with her aunt, so she had it perfected in a bit less than an hour. Ms. Donna dismissed her and she ran back to her mini-mansion that she lived in with her uncle.
Her ecstatic face (usually calm) told him that she had amazing news. Without her having to utter a single hint, he had already guessed and picked her up, spinning her around. He always supported his wife in her dream and was glad April continued it as it was the only thing he had left of his wife. "Go get dressed, we're going out to eat." He said, with a glimmer in his eyes. She knew that look. They would be going to Flower and Fauna- her aunt's favorite place to eat. He got that glimmer whenever he thought about her- which was about 90% of the time. April nodded and went upstairs to change. Matching the restaraunt's theme, she wore a flowy dress with a flower pattern design blouse and matching flats. April put on multiple bracelets and a locket given to her by her grandmother. On one side was a picture of her aunt and a picture of her mother on the other. She kissed the locket and descended downstairs. Her uncle hooked their arms and off they drove.
For obvious reasons, they were regulars so the waiters and waitresses greeted then as they were escorted to their table, secluded by a chain link wall, flowers and moss hanging from it. Her uncle ordered some fancy french dish with chicken and vegetables while April fed her inner child with spaghetti and meatballs. Waiting for their order, her uncle talked of his day at work- he was an architect and just finished the blueprints for a new school. The waitress brought their food and they thanked her and dug in. Both were content eating in silence, enjoying the food. As April finished clearing her plate, her uncle payed the bill making sure to leave large tip. They waved to the workers and drove back home. "Goodnight, April!" her uncle called right before she fell asleep.
