Gelatin's POVFloating on the ocean surface may seem nice, until the context is revealed that it's because your cruise ship sank and you're in the middle of nowhere.
I lied on the still waters, my back facing downwards towards the depths. I clutched a fork I found during the panic in my hand, glancing around for any sight of land. I eventually saw a few trees in the distance, so I started swimming.
I crawled onto the shore, face planting onto the dry ground. "Finally!" I screamed into the sand, coughing once I got some in my throat. I stood up and started trudging around the trees, hoping to see a familiar face. And I did.
"Donut!" I ran over to the pastry nerd and gave him a bear hug. "Gah! Gelatin, don't do that!" He spoke in a very stern voice, but hugged back anyways. I heard his nonexistent stomach start to growl.
"Heh, you hungry too?" I patted his head, as well as my own invisible digestive organ. "Yea... Hey, since we're both food, maybe we can have a bite of each other every once in a while until we find an actual food source?"
I scoffed, looking at my hand smugly as I smirked. "I dunno Donut, that seems pretty gay-" "WILL YOU GIVE AN ACTUAL ANSWER?!" Donut screamed, his face turning pink for a few seconds.
I laughed a bit at his reaction. "Okay, fine, jeez! I'll have a bite of you, and you'll have a bite of me, deal?" I held out my hand for a handshake, which Donut returned solemnly.
After Donut and I finished eating, we didn't really know what else to do. We just relaxed under a tree and watched the grass sway. Donut was still concerned about the bite thing though, since raspberry jam was starting to come out.
"Ya know, Gelatin, it's starting to look near evening, should we rest for the morning to look for others?" Donut leaned against the tree, frowning a bit in concern. "Yea, I think we should." I sat next to him and gave another hug. "G'night?" I looked up at the pastry, who nodded.
"Yea. Good night, Jelly."
Donut's POV
And just like that, Gelatin fell asleep as fast as he could throw a fork. I chuckled a bit as I gently stroked the top of his head, watching the sky slowly change to a warm orange. There was the occasional bird chirp or the sound of waves hitting the shoreline. It felt like something from a movie.
Besides the fact we were on a deserted island. Well, that is a movie plot too, but still.
I looked down at the sleepy Gelatin. He was starting to drool a bit with his mouth slightly open, his arms still wrapped around me. I wiped the drool off his face with my wrist and gently set him down on the sandy grass. Now I needed to find a leaf big enough to use as a blanket.
Maybe leaves from a banana plant? I stood up and started looking around the little forest, glancing up at the trees for any unusually long leaves. There was a calming breeze, the leaves swaying peacefully. I slowed down to take in the beautiful scenery.
I finally found a banana plant, the leaves comically large as expected. I carefully tore out a leaf and held it carefully in my hands to prevent it from ripping. As I started off back towards Gelatin, there was a new, unnatural sound: the occasional rustling of bushes.
I thought nothing of it; probably just a rabbit or bird walking towards their home. It was still unsettling, as I felt as if whatever was in the bushes was following me. When I reached Gelatin and covered him with the leaf, there was still the rustling sound. I decided to check it out, even if it would screw me up later.
I slowly inched towards a moving bush, my hands held out, ready to pounce. There was a low growling noise coming from the bush. What- or who- would be doing that? Golf Ball? Ice Cube? I turned back to look at Gelatin one last time before jumping into the bush.
