It's only been a few weeks since it has happened but it feels like I've been in this for years... I'm slowly dying inside, I watched everyone I love die. I'm in a group which I know won't last long. It's what happens, A group who thinks they'll survive but little do they know all hell breaks loose, someone either betrays them or something eats them. That's the concept of this new world, you die but will come back if you don't get your head smashed in. I'm not afraid of death anymore. I've been on my own since I was 6, that's when my parents died in a car accident.

I remember seeing their bodies laying in the ICU, both were in separate rooms, I was there when my mom woke up but the doctors said it was the last time she would be up. It was their lucid moment or something where their bodies use up the last of their energy but my mom handed me something when we were alone.

"A locket?"

"Open it." I opened it and saw a picture of my mom and my dad.

"I love it mommy." I said hugging her tightly.

"Me and daddy love you so much baby girl, do you understand that this is the last time your going to see me or daddy?" she said, voice weak and small tears streaming down.

"Nona said you guys are going away without us but we will see you soon, right mommy?"

"No baby girl not soon, whenever you want to see me or your daddy you just think of us and we will be there, we will always... be there... no matter what... baby girl I promise..." Then she fell asleep and was back in her coma. I kissed her lips and hugged her tightly. They informed me that my father had woken up under the same lucid energy, I went to see my father next but he didn't last long. I kissed him and we left to gather their things they collect when you get to the hospital. I didn't unpack the bag the hospital until I got home.

My Grandparents took me into their care, I already had a room there since my Nona insisted that my mom not spend any money on a babysitter or daycare. I unpacked the bag; clothes and shoes, the things they were wearing when someone T-boned them, in a smaller bag was my mom's earrings, a gift from my father for their wedding anniversary, diamonds and sapphire my mom's favorite combination I put them in my ears and looked at my reflection, i really do look like my mom. I looked further into the bag and seen the symbol of marriage, my dad's big gold band and my mom's small wedding ring, my mom always told me you didn't have to marry a rich man to fall in love, my dad couldn't afford a 27 karat ring, instead he got a a small diamond, It fit well on my mom's petite hand. I unlatched my locket, I added their symbols of marriage to the chain, it felt right, where it belonged, in it's place.

My mom kept her promise, I saw her ghost, she always told me I was just like her, our psychic abilities, my mom's known since I was little, I had a friend who stuck around, his name was Charlie. Mom talked every night in my room after my grandparents were asleep. I saw my dad as well but he got me in trouble because he would make me laugh at three in the morning.

As soon as the outbreak happened my school released us early when it came to America. I walked back from school and unlocked the door a foul smell followed as I opened the door. I heard the TV, it was on the news of course, my grandpa was probably watching it. The first thing I saw on the TV through the crack the door were these crazy reports of dead people going around and killing more people. I didn't fully go in I just peeked through the crack then I turned around and went to pack my things. I wasn't going to stay here while the world went to hell.

I packed some basics: toothpaste and toothbrush, deodorant, clothes that will help with the Georgia heat, some jackets for the cold nights, I took a photo that was on my nightstand of mom, dad, Nona, grandpa and me, I believe it was my 6th birthday we all look so happy. I continue to grab more things like my only other pair of shoes which were running shoes for track they had a good grip on them and i imagine we will be doing some running, I went to the closet and got some card games something that wouldn't take much room and my stuffed animal I've had ever since I was born along with my small blanket got around the same time. (Which is true, I do have both a stuffed dog named Blackie and Blankie I know but their the only part of my childhood I remember.)
