based off of a scene of jim and pam from s2e11 of the office. chris and gordie are in college here!

"it's getting kinda rowdy in there". gordie says softly as he steps outside, away from all the noise and chaos.chris is following him close behind, shutting the door behind them. they were at a party a few blocks away from their apartment complex. gordie surprisingly agreed to chris when he asked him a week ago if he wanted to come. gordie leaned against the balcony railing, facing the building. chris glances at him, smiling before looking over the balcony and gazing at the city in front of them. gordie smiles and shakes his head.
"sometimes i just don't get teddy". he laughs quietly.
chris rests his left hand against the railing, his body facing gordie. he shrugs and looks at gordie.
"well..". he replies, trying to block out the loud music coming from inside the apartment. chris then thinks about all the weird shit teddy has done in the past couple of years that still leaves chris with many unanswered questions. both boys look at each other before gordie looks down, eyes wandering the ground.
"i mean..i don't know". he says before shrugging, his voice faltering, almost sounding embarrassed. chris watches him, almost like he's waiting to hear the small boy in front of him confess something. but gordie doesn't say anything, he just stares at the stars above them.
they look at each other again before gordie smiles.
"soo, what's it like dating a cheerleader?". gordie asks while laughing softly.
chris let's out a breath before he fake laughs and looks up. he cringes and wonders to himself why he's even 'dating' that girl. that poor girl who currently inside, dancing her heart out and getting wasted. he's been wanting to break up with her but he just doesn't have the heart to tell her. and maybe he only dated the poor girl because he wanted to make someone jealous.
"oh..". he says softly and pretends to think. he smiles and looks down at gordie, who's smiling back at him, waiting for a response. chris' heart explodes inside before he quickly looks away. as he looks back out, beyond the balcony, his smile fades away.
his mind can only think about gordie. what it's like to be with him. how his heart swells up and explodes every time he looks at the smaller boy in front of him. or how he can listen to gordie talk and talk for hours about whatever the hell he wants to talk about.
or about how pretty gordie looks right now. the moon shines onto gordie's face as he looks up at chris. his eyes are soft, looking somewhat sad. he's wearing one of chris' college crewnecks with a plain shirt underneath to try and make up for how big it hangs on him. chris secretly loves it whenever gordie steals his clothes, it makes him look small and adorable. it also makes him look like chris' boyfriend but he often tries to let go of the thought.
gordie continues to watch the taller boy, eating for him to say something. chris continues to stare at him. he opens his mouth but nothing comes out. it's a bittersweet moment.
gordie's smile falters as he breaks his gaze from chris, glancing around the small and cramped balcony awkwardly. he shivers slightly.
"i'm cold...". he says before getting up off of the balcony railing. chris nods and doesn't move. gordie smiles once more before going back inside, leaving the taller boy alone.

if you've seen the office then this definitely makes more sense. also, the boys are supposed to be in college during this, they aren't dating but they have huge crushes on each other that both of them don't want to admit. idk why but chris as jim makes SO much sense to me, i can't really explain it haha. thanks for reading!
