Lena
Looking at myself in the mirror I had to admit the others had done an amazing job making me not look like I had barely slept since leaving. Even if this wasn't where I wanted to be, I wasn't going to let Beth have a chance to ruin my reputation... I have a hard enough time with my name as it is.
"Ready to go Lena?" Ivy leaned in my doorway, her bridesmaids dress failing to make her look anything but beautiful.
I double checked my reflection. "Yes, let's get this over with." As we made our way downstairs, Ivy at my back now I frowned. "Aren't you supposed to be with Beth considering you and Harley are bridesmaids?"
We just reached the bottom of the stairs when Harley spoke for her. "Nah, she wanted a big reveal or somethin'. I stopped listenin' after a few seconds." Like her wife, the dress she was wearing couldn't do it's job to make her look anything but beautiful.
"Is it a requirement as a villainess to look stunning in everything you wear?" I was truly wondering this because nothing seemed to look bad on these two - something Beth really should have considered picking bridesmaids.
The pair laughed, nodding at me. "More of a gift than a requirement, but I'll take the compliment." Ivy said as Harley wrapped an arm around her waist.
Cat looked the two up and down. "Even I'm impressed that either of you can pull of the pale orange look considering your hair."
Harley laughed. "I know, but while we do pull these dresses off pretty good I don't wanna be in it longer than needed." Slipping from Ivy's grasp, she pulled her wife towards the front door, Cat and I following close behind.
Our way to the wedding was met with more guests the closer we got, the late-morning sun getting hotter the later it got. Several people looked at them as they arrived, many frowning at the lack of the reporter on her arm they had seen at the bachelorette party, some even whispered when they thought I wouldn't notice.
I shouldn't have come. Not having Kara here is already starting rumours and the wedding hasn't even started. Another couple started whispering, casting her a prolonged glance, the smile on my face hurting and remaining solely from practice. If this day didn't go quick I was going to start research on a way to speed time up.
Cat and I found two seats quickly, everyone leaving us alone, taking the hint that at least one of us didn't want to mingle. Everything was amazing, Beth had good taste since this level of décor couldn't have been Jack; a hand-carved wooden arch and white wooden seats either side of a simple aisle. Simplistic, but with the views around us it was beautiful, the small details left for the eye to find. From here I could see the delicate carvings covering the arch making it a piece of artwork.
Within ten minutes people took their seats as Jack appeared under the arch from the villa behind us, the violins slowly starting up in a song I didn't know. All too soon we were standing as Beth made her way down the aisle, a woman beside me blocking my view as she passed us. When I did see her, she looked gorgeous, Harley and Ivy standing behind her as she took Jack's hands.
The two of them looked so happy, excited to spend the rest of their lives together. My eyes stayed on the wedding, but my mind wondered to the blonde in National City. Was she awake? Was she okay? Did she hate me? What was I thinking? Of course she hated me, I left.
"If anyone has reason to believe that these two should not be wed, speak now or forever hold your peace." The priest looked out at the guests, one or two sets of eyes landing on me waiting, Beth and Jack just stood there smiling like idiots as the silence stretched for a moment, then two. A purple oval appeared at the start of the aisle, stopping the Priest before he could form his next word.
I didn't want to look at what was happening behind me, but I knew what that oval meant and sure enough, the gasps that flowed through the guests told me who it was.
"My invitation must have been lost in the mail." Lex. Sighing, I refused to turn around, not yet. "Congratulations. Jack lovely to see you, I missed you my friend." He started walking down the aisle, bypassing my row completely to stand in front of Jack and Beth.
He spun on his heels to face us all, a smile on his face. "Now, I'm not here to ruin this truly wonderful wedding, but I will." His eyes landed on me, my face blank. "My darling sister, just the person I need."
This brought everyone's attention to me. Great. "I care about what you need, why?" He had a plan, he wouldn't be here if he didn't. Didn't mean I had to make it easy for him.
Lex blew out a breath. "Well, I am your brother..." I didn't even blink. "...and I have a missile locked on these co-ordinates. One press of a button and everyone here has minutes before this entire resort is a crater."
I couldn't believe him, he actually sounded happy about having a missile ready to kill everyone- what was I thinking, this was Lex. All this effort did mean one thing, he wanted something and I only I could get it him.
"What could I possibly do for you that your evil, maniacal self can't?" I got ready to stand up.
I caught a shine in his eyes I'd seen in Metropolis, he was far down his Kryptonian-hating rabbit hole. "Kyrptonite." His answer made me frown, he knew how to make it, he didn't need me, something else was going on. "Come on, I believe these two would like to continue with their day."
He looked back at Jack and Beth, both of whom were skipping between Lex and myself, watching everything and I knew he was right. Staying wasn't an option, may as well not cause too much trouble. Without a word, I stood up, Cat's hand gripping mine to stop me. She dropped it quickly, not wanting to draw attention I guess, but still the realisation that not one of these so-called friends would try to stop me him hurt.
Kara would. The thought formed before I could stop it, bringing with it everything I didn't want to think about.
"Would you hurry up? We have much to do today." As soon as I was at his side, everyone's eyes on us, his hand went to my back guiding me forward. What I wouldn't have given to flinch away or simply say no. "Again, congratulations and sorry for the interruption."
His hand left my back for a moment to open a portal and for that moment I let myself breath, a tightness in my body easing. It didn't last long, his hand returning to direct me through the portal, his breath hot on my ear as he stepped closer. His words chilling. "Today is the day Supergirl dies."
