I Would Give it All Up (ch 8)

He bolted down the stairs and couldn't find her anywhere in sight. He ran outside hurriedly and saw a flash of her red coat about a block down. He took off running, his sneakers pounding on the concrete, the blood rushing to his head.
He rounded the corner saw her making her way through a mass of people.
He took off sprinting again, he was completely out of breath, but his body was alive. He had to catch up to her.
He grabbed hold of her sleeve and whirled her around so she was facing him.
"Nina...please just let me talk to you..", he says, panting from all the running.
"Fabian", she said quietly, "I'm pregnant."
Fear electrified his body and he let go of her sleeve.
"You're..you're..what?"
"Don't make me say it again", she mumbles, tears streaming down her face.
"I..."
"Now do you see why we can't be together? I love someone else. I'm going to have a baby. I don't love you anymore Fabian."
Saying the very words made Nina Martin sick to her stomach. She still loved him. But he could never know. She was going to have a baby with Josh now..and she can't fall in love with Fabian.
Her words shook Fabian and caused him to start crying as well.
There they were, crying in the streets of England, holding onto what was left of a high school romance.
"It can't end like this", Fabian replies.
"But it has to. Goodbye, Fabian."
"No", Fabian replies angrily, "NO NO NO NO", he slams his fist into the shop wall next to them.
"I'm sorry", Nina sobs.
"Nina...I can help you with the baby. We can move in together. Please. I still love you."
"Fabian what don't you understand?! I can't love anyone anymore. It's just Josh and me and this baby and I can't love you. I can't love you", she sobs.
"Yes you can. Nina, I've never loved any one more in my whole life then you. You are my chosen one. You are the one I'm supposed to spend the rest of my life with. You're the one I'm supposed to spend rainy days with, the one I'm supposed to go on coffee runs with, the one who I'm supposed to have a child with. Nina I love you."
She shakes her head.
"Damn it Fabian, why do you have to make this so hard on me?! I'm pregnant at nineteen the last thing I need is you showing up telling me you love me! God Fabian, I love you too! I love you more then I've ever loved anyone in my whole life but I'm pregnant with someone else's baby, don't you see how this can't work out?! How can you love me?! I'm pregnant, I'm so toxic for you and yet you still want me?!"
He takes her hand and pulls her in for a kiss. It felt so good to kiss her again.
She kissed back, and once again Nina felt that fire she had felt years before when she was kissing him.
They pull away and Nina smiles.
"I hate you so much for loving me", she whispers.
