Kiara pov

Hi, I'm kiara. Everyone calls me kie though. I just moved to Outer Banks, NC. I lived here when I was 7 but I moved that year. Now I'm 15 and turning 16 later this week. My best friends sarah, John B, JJ, and Pope still live here. "Sweetie if you don't hurry your going to be late." My mom peeks her head in my room. "Cute outfit but let's go"  she says. I was wearing my dad's old ac/dc t-shirt with fishnet leggings under my jeans.(the picture). I run downstairs and grab a banana before I head out. "Love you mom" I shout as I close the front door.

I got in my car and drive to school. As I drove I listened to some music. Mostly bishop briggs. "Shut your mouth baby stand and deliver, holy hands oh they make me a sinner, like a river." I sing as I pulled into the school parking lot. I didn't tell anyone that I was back so I guess I'll just surprise them.  When I get out of my car I see John B's van. I walk to the front of the school with my schedule gripped tightly in my hands. Someone walks up next to me and puts his arm around me. He is a tall blonde guy. " hey cutie(🙄) I'm topper. And you are? " OMG this is topper. God I hated him so much. When I was seven he bullied me. "You don't recognize me top? It's me kiara" I say cockily.  "Damn vsco got hot" he says. I push his arm off my shoulder. "Leave her alone topper" I hear a boy behind me say. "JJ!" I say as I spin around. He looks confused but when he sees my face he knows who I am. "Kie" he says while his face breaks out into a smile. I practically jump into his arms and hug him. I inhale his scent. Yep it's JJ alright. "Where's sarah?" I ask. " mmm" he mumbles into my shoulder. I giggle.

"KIE" I hear sarah shout. I leave his arms and run to sarahs. "I missed you so much what are you doing back" I pull away from our hug "my dad got a job here and we still had the lease to our old house" I say. "So we moved back." I know that I just got home and I miss my friends but I can't help but notice JJ more than anyone else. I remember when I was six or seven I had a major crush on John B but now thats a different story. I see John B and Pope heading over our way. "Kie" they shout simultaneously. "Hey boys" I dip over to them and hug them both.

After we all hung out during homeroom we had to go to class. I had math with JJ and sarah. We walked in the math classroom and the teacher called my name. "Kiara carrera, welcome. Everyone this is our new student. Great her with the respect and kindness that you would treat anyone." Everyone started staring at me from their seats. "Please take a seat kiara." I now before I go sit down next to JJ. He smirks at me. Damn this class will be a long one.

I was right. He keeps passing me notes saying things like 'if you choke on water you have failed at the two most important things in life. Drinking and breathing' and 'if two vegetarians fight is it still called a beef?' Sarah sent me a text.

Kie💞: am not! Crush? Maybe. Love? No

She just looked at me and rolled her eyes. She made a kissy face before looking away again. Eventually class was over and it was our lunch. I stood up from my seat and I realized how much I hated what was about to happen. High school lunch. In the cafeteria. For the past eight years I have had to sit alone. Cause I was the new kid and I never really made any friends.

When I got to the cafeteria, sarah waves me over. I walk to that table but the only seat available is next to JJ. I sit down at the table when a girl walks over to the table. "That's my seat" she says with a bitter tone. "Your name on it?" I ask as she gasps. Everyone snickers at my response. " babe let me sit on your lap" she says and walks over to JJ'S LAP. OH HELL NO " FOR THE LAST TIME WE ARE NOT DATING" JJ says loudly. "But babe-" " like he said he's not your babe" I say. "Mind your own business slut" she cockily replies. I stand up and I'm shorter than her. "Is your ass jealous of the amount of shit that came out of your mouth right now" I say. She just flips her hair and walks off. "The hell gives her the authority to think she can talk to me like I'm one of her loyal subjects." I say as I sit back down " well that's Rosaey Williams. She rich and white so she does what she wants and never gets in trouble for it. " Sarah says "well if she continues to think she can treat me like that it's gonna be a hell of a long year." I say. "Don't worry you could take her" JJ says as he smiles at me. I blush and try to hide my face as I do so. "You're cute when your flustered" he whispers as everyone goes back to their normal conversations. I blush even more.  The lunch bell inevitably rings and we all go to our separate classes. At the end of the day we all met up in the parking lot. I give everyone a hug but with JJ it feels like more than a hug. "Bye cutie text you later" JJ whispers in my ear causing me to  blush. As everyone goes their separate ways, I turn away and drive back home.
