Kendric St. James

The next morning, I began my delayed packing of clothes and such at 6am sharp. Most 16 year old guys would dread having to get up that early, but when you spent a majority of your childhood waking up to early-morning family arguements, it kind of just sticks with you. Plus, I didnt mind getting up early, it just gave me a head-start on the day so I wouldnt have so much to do later on.

I came downstairs to a surprise, however. "Margeret?"

The somewhat short, and almost "stocky" blonde woman turned around to face me from her place behind the kitchen island.

"Kendric, hi, goodmorning," she said.

"I wasnt expecting you, sorry," I said, walking over to the counter and sliding a piece of bread into the toaster.

Margo swallowed a drink of her coffee, an audible smack from her lips as she downed the liquid,"Oh, no I get it. Your father just left but my plane doesn't leave for another three hours. W-where are you off to?"

"School trip, I'm picking someone else up though, so I'm leaving early," I said just when my bread popped up from the toaster. "Where are you going?"

"San Fransisco, Press Meeting. Your dad insisted on him flying out early to sign into the hotel."

I nodded in understanding, putting my toast onto a plate and making a move to head back upstairs in order to finish packing; however Margo made a quick move to stop me with her voice. "I talked to your dad about the kid, Reggie."

I turned around to face her, my expression growing a little confused.

"H-hes different, you're different too," She started,"I know I'll never be your mom, but I can still see that you like him, and I've tried telling your father that anything he says about Reggie wont effect you, and it wont stop you from hanging out with him, o-or your feelings for him."

She paused and I gave her this look, like "okay, your point?"

"... I'm trying, I really am. I know you and I dont always see eye-to-eye, but I'm trying. Just... be careful with what you say to your dad, he doesnt understand the whole... 'homosexual facade'-"

"I'm not gay, Margo," I cut in.

"Crap,- yeah, I'm sorry, you know what I meant."

I nodded in understanding, willing her to stop talking. It's not that I completely dislike Margo, shes fine, we've just never been close with each other. And shes right, she'll never be my mom; Mom was smart enough to leave Dad.

Once I was back in my room, packing went by quickly. I simply just threw in a few pairs of jeans, sweatpants, and shirts, then a few shirts, etc. Before I knew it, I was on my way to the house of one Reggie Weller.

Upon my arrival, he came walking out in a more comfortable than usual outfit. A grey flannel that was tucked partly into his blue skinny jeans, fastened with a belt and white air force's for footwear. Stunning as usual...

Reggie opened the passenger door and took a seat after he had placed his suitcase in the back with my own.

"Hey," I said as Reggie buckled his seatbelt

"Hi,"

"You okay?" I asked hesitantly

"Yeah," Reggie smiled.

I nodded with a grin before putting the car in drive and heading off to the school campus. The drive was quiet as Reggie sat on his phone for most of it.
