Trigger Warning: bones... I guess.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I find myself wandering the woods, lost in my thoughts. I don't know how I came to be here, or where exactly I am, but all I know is that I must walk. I walk for an hour before I find myself in front of human bones. I'm startled at first, but I tentatively walk up to them.
Slowly, I sit down in front of them with my legs crossed, and lean forward.
Silence. I hear nothing, just observing. I don't hear any voices, but it feels like the bones are talking to me.
Weird.
I listen however, and find that they want to teach me many wonderful things. Magic and knowledge not of this century. Spells to defy gravity and the mysteries to the world. Ever wonder what happened to Amelia Earheart? Maybe the bones will tell you. I listen intently to all of this and find myself losing track of time.I stand up to walk away from the bones, seeing that it's night. As I turn to leave, the bones start to crumble. I watch as the bones turn to ash and a breeze carries them away. I smile to myself, glad to have put the bones to ease by listening to them, and learning from them. I walk away.
The next day, I decide to make a trip to the ocean. I might as well, the forest is all well and good. But the ocean is full of mysteries. I see faraway the clouds of a storm starting to come in. This won't take long, I think. It'll just be a quick adventure.
I walk along the coast of the beach, when something in the water catches my eye. I turn to see what it is, and it's more bones. I smile, glad that I might be able to gain more knowledge from these bones.
I wade into the water, getting close to the bones. As I walk towards them, dread fills my heart and seizes my body. I stop, wondering where this is suddenly coming from. And that's when I hear the message from the bones. A warning to me.
Run.
I pale as I turn to run, hearing the sounds of thunder in the distance. The storm is coming. The sea may love me, but it is nights like these where the sea knows no mercy nor science. I run faster, faster.
The bones warn me only once.
