Trigger warning: ...not really any. Shattered glass I guess...?

I sat in my booth at Starbucks, waiting for my friend, Sydney, to show up. We were supposed to go over some of the notes we took in Psychology class, but Sydney was later than usual. I looked out the window, thinking about what the student behind me said in class.
"When do you think she'll find out she's the only one who can't read mi-" At that point, the student next to him he was talking to clamped his mouth shut and glanced at me.
I brushed it off, but I thought about it now that I wasn't focusing on class yet. "What was he going to say? What if... what if he was going to say minds? What if I'm the only one who can't read minds?" I started to chuckle at the thought, but the sound of a glass shattering caught my attention.
All chattering had ceased, and everything was silent. I turned around slowly, and every single person in the café was looking at me. They had a terrified look in their eyes, and my blood froze. "No way..."
My thoughts were interrupted when Sydney walked into the café. "Hey so sorry I'm late..." She noticed everyone looking at me with the terrified look in their eyes. She pieced two and two together, and grabbed me by the arm. "We have to go."
     "But Sydney-"
     "Now"
