Girl Meets the Real World

Waking up today was like a whole different world i mean everything was finally back to normal the triangle was finally done and me and lucas were back together and me, riley and maya were closer than ever everything was just really good and i couldn't wipe the smile from my face at all right now we were all sitting in class listening to riley and farkle debate

"the sun shines during the day ms matthews will argue the affirmative" dad said to us "good morning everybody you know why people say that in the morning" riley said then she walked over to the window and pulled up the shade showing us the sun "paam......nailed it" she said making me chuckle lightly of course that's how she argues "how could you possibly lose" maya said "like this" smackle said gestering to farkle "first of all let's understand that day and night merely words invented by human beings to communicate simple conceptual constructs aporpos of nothing" farkle said then he and smackle started to nerdly flirt with each other "aww see normally i would totally think that was gross but i can't it was just to cute" i said earning a look from everyone "thank you thank you very much anyway science tells us that the sun is always and what appears to be day and night is merely our angle of proximity at a particular time to the earth's revolution and for extra credit there's no such thing as time" farkle said making me sign but a piece of paper landed on my desk i smiled as i opened the note reading it then i turned to look at my boyfriend who was smiling at me "our debate topic therefore is false the sun does not just shine during the day it also shines during the night just not on us" farkle finished up riley then let out a little chuckle and turned to us "i win" she said

"how do you win" dad asked her "because i have high hopes because when you believe passionately" riley said but dad cut her off "and our debate winner is farkle minkus" he said as we all slowly clapped "i don't understand i said what i believed how could that be wrong" riley said "there's no wrong riley but there are rules to a debate" dad said to her "okay who cares about the rules when we know that the sun shines during the day" riley said "that's interesting isn't it how often do we get so lost in what we think that we refuse to listen to what the other side has to say huh you guys know why we debate in history class history teaches us that most wars start because we don't listen to the other point of view" dad said as he started his lesson "i'm not trying to start a war i just think it's okay to feel strongly about what you believe in" riley said but i wasn't really paying attention anymore as i was starting to get a headache recently they have been coming and going but i haven't really told anyone "oh i'm sorry i couldn't hear you the sun was in my ears" riley said making me chuckle as this was about to become a big thing "riley" dad said "cory" riley said back "here we go" lucas said smiling "i love this class so much" zay followed "being passionate about what you believe in is the only way to live i don't need your facts and i certainly don't need your points of view" riley said as i rolled my eyes "switch" dad then said "switch sides argue the other side farkle" dad said and riley and farkle switched their podiums "the sun shines during the day you know how i know poom" farkle said coping riley "hey" riley said "poom is my acronym for polar oscillation in orbital motion" farkle said "is it hot in here it's hot in here what's happening " smackle said making me chuckle

"farkle what do you really believe" riley asked "the sun shines all the time when we see it it's day so for us the sun shines during the day" farkle said walking back over to the podium "how do we know what you really believe if you can switch sides that easily" riley asked him "i'm not changing what i believe but a good debater needs to be able to argue both sides" farkle said "right and as you continue to grow you'll find a benefit to understanding the other side of an arguement because if you know what you're up against you'll be ready for it" dad said "oh i don't think i'll need to be ready to argue about something as simple as whether the sun is out or not" riley said "are people naturally good or evil" dad asked us "good" riley said "all of you will argue good only one of you will argue the other side Ms. Matthews" dad said to us then he turned to riley "you wouldn't dare" she said sounding angry "you will make the case for evil" dad said making riley put her head down on the podium oh this was going to be week the bell rang and we all quickly grabbed our things lucas grabbed my hand and we walked out of the classroom covering our eyes from looking at my sister
