I originally wrote this for a short story contest by @TeamOfDreams. (You should check them out, by the way.) It didn't win, even though there was only one other submission. To be fair, I didn't follow the prompt closely and my writing is somewhat mediocre.
Since then, this book has turned into a motivator to write. I've added more details to this story, and published the short story "Violets." (I think it's better written than this book.) I'm currently writing a novel that should be published soon, so keep an eye out for that!
I'm also considering turning this story into a prequel for a novel. I'll leave a note at the end of this one if I actually do it. *laughs in procrastination*
Happy reading!

PS: Just go ahead and read "Violets." I think you'll like it better.
