Agent JEN9 clung to the balcony until she heard Mr. Tui leave. She climbed back into the room.

The hotel was silent. He hadn't told security. She was able to leave without resistance.

Agent JEN9 was confused. This man was an idiot.

Even so, she had failed her plan. Bavol Tui survived. She decided to try her backup plan.

At sunset, she sat atop a building overlooking a park. Her sniper rifle was in position. She held perfectly still, sweat dripping down her back. It was a hot evening.

She spotted him enter the park. He sat on a bench, right where she wanted him. She touched the trigger.

He stood before she could shoot.

A little girl ran towards her target. He picked her up and swung her around, whooping. Was it his grandchild?

Agent JEN9 paused. Why did the child look familiar?

"Mommy?"

Wichita Falls.

The childhood memory startled her. She looked back at the pair.

She couldn't do it. Not yet. They walked away.

Agent JEN9 retreated.
