Night Before Pt 2

The sun was too bright.

Josie blinked a couple of times for her eyes to adjust to the light that was coming from the window. Her head was thumping and she had no recollection of what happened last night.

She didn't even know it was possible to be that HANGOVER.

I am never going to a party again.

It took a moment for her to realize when she felt the sheets that were covering her body that she was neither in her own bed nor was she in her room.

Panic hadn't settled in yet.

She sat up and rubbed her eyes not knowing what time it was. She looked to her right to try and see if there were any clocks but instead, she saw a person lying beside her on the bed. Their bare back was half-covered by the sheets on top of the two of them. Josie continued to rub her eyes thinking that it might magically help her realize that all of it was just some messed up nightmare.

She glanced around the room and saw that her clothes were draped down on a chair. Coincidentally the sheets on her body fell down revealing her own half-naked body.

Her stomach lurched

Even more so when the person beside her moved and laid on their back.

Josie looked at the person's face as if to confirm her suspicions and when she did, she straight away threw off the covers. She fell off of the bed landing butt down on the floor.

Panic had settled in.

She hastily got up and went to her clothes, putting it on before the person on the bed could wake up. No this was not fine. This was not fine at all. She didn't want to be that type of person who ghosted people after sleeping with them. I mean not that she actually has one-night stands. But it was the type of situation where she just needed to get out of that place.

She finished putting her clothes on and went to the door.

"Josie?" The person called out with a half-asleep voice.

She didn't bother looking back, instead, she quickly pulled the door accidentally slamming it as she went out of the room.

Josie ran out of the building and recognized that it was the same street she walked on every day on her way to campus from her apartment.

------

It was a miracle that she managed to get back to her apartment. Because even though it was only a few blocks away, her body aches made the walk a huge challenge.

Josie headed down to the kitchen. She wanted to drink cold water from the fridge for her dry throat. Drink aspirin. Maybe even sit down alone to try and process what happened.

"It's nice of you to finally join us."
Josie jumped from the voice behind her.

"Where have you been Josette Lucas Saltzman?"

She turned around to see that there was Lizzie sitting on a chair with breakfast and drinks on the table as if she was waiting for her to arrive.

"I have been worried sick! No," She pointed a finger up and gestured to Hope who was sitting next to her eating waffles. "We have been worried sick!"

What Josie didn't want was two people in her kitchen asking questions she could barely answer.

"I've been calling you all morning and you weren't answering!"

"My phone was on silent-" Josie stopped realising that she didn't have her phone with her or did she know where she'd left it. God forbid that she left it at the other person's apartment.
