My Thursday shifts always go painfully slowly compared to my Wednesday ones

My Thursday shifts always go painfully slowly compared to my Wednesday ones. Or any of my other shifts for that matter. Oliver doesn't come into work because he's looking after his daughter, so he leaves Franz in charge.

No, how would I describe Franz. Let's say: it's no wonder Yoongi asked me to not make him cover for me on this particular day of the week. He is, quite literally, insufferable. He'll use the fact that he's "in charge" for a few hours to boss people around rudely instead of helping out and doing his part. We've tried to report his behavior to Oliver on multiple occasions, but he always brushes it off because he doesn't want to deal with it. So we're left to deal with his bullshit on our own whenever we're called in on a Thursday.

I finish pouring a pint of beer for a customer when I hear "Mia! Can you please come over here for a moment?" in the most condescending of tones and I instantly know he's gonna test my patience.

"Hi Franz" I greet him, with a sarcastic smile "You needed me?"

"Yeah. I've noticed you look somewhat... unprofessional today" He eyes me up and down with a disgusted look.

In any other situation, I'd try to hide my blatantly confused face, but I have no energy to do that with Franz "Excuse me?"

As if by queue, and in a completely invasive way, he grabs the collar of my shirt and pulls it aside, revealing some of the purple-toned marks Yoongi left on me last night.

I see. Today, he's taken it upon himself to make me uncomfortable.

"What the hell Franz?!" I slap his hand off me in embarrassment and raise my voice only the slightest bit "That's absolutely none of your business and it's not visible unless you intrusively pull on my shirt like you just did"

He kisses his teeth and shakes his head "It's completely my business when your loose lifestyle makes me look like an irresponsible manager"

That's it.

"Last time I checked, you weren't the manager here, Franz" a voice says from behind me.

The anger and rage boiling up inside me were rising by the second, and if it wasn't for Jin intervening and snapping me out of my own thoughts, I'm positive I would've lost my job for assaulting a coworker.

"Jin, please go back to work, this conversation is between myself and Mia" Franz swats his hand at him.

"I've already finished in the kitchen and break starts now which I intend to spend with Mia" Jin replies without hesitation "and like I said, Oliver is the manager here, not you. You're clearly overstepping boundaries here and making her uncomfortable, so unless you leave right now, I will file a formal complaint against you"

I've never witnessed anyone threaten someone else with legal action in such an effortless and unbothered way.

Franz glares at Jin in a deadly way and stomps away without uttering a sound and I let out a relieved sigh. "Thank you so much for that"

"It's no worries, what he did was completely unacceptable"

I feel my cheeks turning red at the realization that he must have seen the marks on my neck and collarbone and stare at the ground awkwardly "I think this is the last time I'm wearing this shirt to work"

"Oh no please, don't feel embarrassed!" he smiles at me and nudges me jokingly "Does this mean there's a new someone on your radar?"

I laugh at his attempt to cheer me up "No, it's nothing serious, really"

"Do I know them?"

"Actually, you do. But you can't tell anyone because it might get a bit weird in here if people know"

"Wait" he looks at me in shock "It's someone from work?"

"Yoongi"

"YOU AND YOONGI ARE-" I put my hand over his mouth to shut him up before everyone in this bar becomes aware of my sex life.

"Yeah" I whisper "But it's not serious at all, and I don't want people talking about it at work"

I feel comfortable telling Jin about this. He's always been trustworthy and a good friend to me, and always offered honest advice whenever I've needed someone. I just don't want everyone else to find out and start behaving differently around us or gossiping like fourteen year-olds. I know of a few people that would do that.

"Damn, I would've never guessed that" Jin says, and I can't quite decipher the look on him "Well, as long as you're happy and safe, everything's good. I'm gonna go eat my sandwich now, you be good" He disappears into the kitchen somewhat hurriedly, leaving me confused. It seemed like his mood changed in the blink of an eye for no apparent reason. Was it something I said? Did he feel uncomfortable knowing two of his friends are sleeping together?

Just seconds before my shift ends and I'm ready to sprint out the door, my phone buzzes in my pocket and I read a text that finally puts a relieved smile on my face, and leaves me equal parts intrigued and excited:

> Feel free to drop by as soon as you finish work, I have a game I want us to play.
