The sound of my phone's alarm going off wakes me from my sleep, much to Yoongi's dismay.

"Turn it offfffff" he whines, throwing a pillow at me.

"Sorry, I have to get going" I get out of bed and scramble for my clothes, which are scattered all over the ground "I made plans to go out for breakfast with a friend"

"Mmmm" Yoongi is barely awake and making sense of his surroundings, so I choose not to bother him and finish getting ready quickly before heading out.

We agreed to meet at The Pancake House, and the thought of devouring some french toast sounds absolutely divine right now. Thankfully it's close to Yoongi's place, so I can walk there, and it's nice to enjoy a morning walk every once in a while. There's not that many people outside, since it's past rush hour, and the sun is shining brightly through the trees. I feel refreshed and plug my headphones into my phone, replaying Yoongi's song and walking to its same beat. It's strange, knowing that I'm listening to his voice sing such carefully thought-out lyrics, but his talent is undeniable. It's really making my walk ten times better.

I arrive at the cafe and instantly spot a familiar face sitting at a table next to the windows "Meg!"

Her face lights up when she sees me and she cheerfully gets off her seat to give me a warm hug "Mia! Finally, god, it's been so long!"

"Too long, too long, I know" We sit down and scan the menu for options even though we're both going to order the same thing we always do. The waitress takes our order and brings our drinks, and I may not be a huge coffee person, but the one served here is just something I can't say no to.

"How's it been with you then! I haven't seen you since Savannah's birthday dinner back in February" Meg asks me

"Yeah, not much has changed really, same job, same apartment, same routine" I absentmindedly stir my spoon in my coffee cup. Recognizing how little my life has improved in the last four months isn't exactly great for my pride.

"Eh, same as me if I'm honest with you, but I broke up with Jackson"

I'm evidently shocked at this revelation "What! How? When? Why? Do I need to beat him up?"

"No, no" she chuckles and looks down at the table "It was mutual, kind of. I guess we got bored of being with each other and it felt like we were treating the relationship like a pastime rather than something that made us happy"

"I'm sorry to hear" I take her hand in mine "You should've told me. You know I'm always here for you"

"I know, I just didn't really feel like talking to anyone. I was also busy moving my stuff out of our shared apartment so I guess I got caught up with it all"

I look at her apologetically, hurting a bit for her. She's one of the most kind-hearted, wonderful people I've ever been lucky enough to meet in my life. We may not see each other too often, but Meg's one of those people that you know will stick around for the long run.

The waitress brings our food and we start cramming down almost instantly "What about you? Anything new in your love life?" Meg asks me, between bites.

"I've got someone but we're not dating, or even seeing each other really"

"So, like a fuck buddies situation?"

"Exactly like a fuck buddies situation"

"Well, just be careful"

"Why?"

"Y'know" she finishes her meal in an impressive record time, and plops her cutlery on the plate "These arrangements get people hurt if someone suddenly catches feelings"

"That won't happen, don't worry" I sip my coffee "We've both been fully transparent about our intentions"

"That's good, but still, just be careful okay?" She looks at me lovingly "I won't hesitate to curb stomp someone if I must" she raises one finger and points it at me as if threatening me.

"Glad to know we've still got the same sense of humour"

"By the way!" She reaches into her bag underneath the table "I have what you asked me for last week"

"Oh, shit! I completely forgot about that"

She hands me a small brown box and upon opening it, a cheeky smile draws itself on my expression. I stare at the small plastic bag full of dark crumb-like shapes. "How much do I owe you?"

"Oh, no, it's fine" Meg shakes her head at me "I got you this time"

"Okay well at least let me pay for your breakfast" I motion for the waitress to bring our bill and put the box inside my handbag.

It's been a few months since I last did shrooms, so I'm excited. I'm by no means a drug addict, nor do I condone the use of drugs regularly, but I sometimes find that mushrooms help put things into perspective for me and ease my spirit. It always goes the same way: I dedicate a whole afternoon to myself, buy snacks and play some chill music, maybe even some paper and colored markers to draw, and just lay in bed and enjoy the trip. I sleep like a baby afterwards and start the next day with a much brighter perspective on life. It's relaxing and freeing, a special occasion for myself every once in a while.

I pay for our meal and we take a short walk to the nearest bus stop "I've missed you, Mia" she hugs me from the side "Please promise me you're gonna take care of yourself"

I hug her back tightly "Only if you do too"

"And be careful with that boy, you know what I always say about men" she nudges me.

"Trust your gut, yeah, I know" We see the bus pull up to our stop in perfect timing and I hug Mia one last time before she boards and waves me goodbye from her window seat.

At her mention of Yoongi, an idea pops into my head and I take my phone out of my pocket.

< Random question, but do you wanna do shrooms with me?
