Chapter Twenty Eight: Secrets
"Two can keep a secret if one of them is dead," Pretty Little Liars
~

Lyall Lupin was furious. While he was thrilled that his son had a peaceful night and slept through the full moon, neither Rubeus or Dorea or Charlus had told him that Holly was alive. The five of them (Hope included) got together once a month for a brunch and Lyall was angry that it appeared everyone knew what was going on except him. Even Remus knew who Holly Renée was.

Their lunches were usually at the Potter's home because it was rare to find a restaurant that could accommodate for Rubeus' size. As the two walked up to the front door of the Potter's home, Hope tried to plead with her husband to not make a scene, but as Lyall stormed in, she knew it wasn't going to happen.

Dorea and Charlus were chopping onions and talking happily in the kitchen when Lyall walked in and paid no attention to the angry look on his face until he was standing directly in front of Dorea.

"How could you not tell me that Holly Renée is alive?"

The group could hear a pin drop. Hagrid's jaw dropped, Charlus rubbed his hand over his face, Hope was confused, and Dorea sighed.

"We only found out ourselves a few weeks ago," she confessed, but that only made Lyall angrier.

"You knew for weeks and you didn't bother contacting me?"

"It was a lot to take in, Lyall. To be honest, I thought I was imagining it at first because it was just after we went to visit her grave, but then the boys were talking about it-"

"I found out she was alive when she tried to inject my son with a needle last night!"

"You may have hated her in school, Lyall, but even you could never deny that she was a master potioneer. If anyone can help Remus, it was her," Dorea pointed out and Lyall was silent as he stared at the ground, not daring to look her in the eye. Dorea noticed and her jaw dropped. "It worked, didn't it? You let her try her potion?"

"I did," Hope corrected and Dorea nodded.

"I wise decision, Hope, the girl was a mystery that loved her secrets, but she is the only person that could help your son."

"What happened to her?" Charlus asked, "We went to school with her years ago but she looks like she's the same age as Remus."

"A few days younger, actually," Hagrid spoke up quietly and all eyes turned to him. He sighed, knowing that he had to tell them everything, "I've known she was alive fer awhile now."

"How long?" Lyall asked and Hagrid hesitated, "How long, Rubeus?"

"Ten years," he admitted and Dorea dropped the plate she'd been holding.

"You knew for ten years and let us mourn every day for her?" Charlus asked in a croaking voice and Hagrid nodded.

"She came to Hogwarts when she was seven as a transferred fourth year. Her magic was amazing-something no one had ever seen before so they admitted her early. She had no clue who I was when we met and Professor Dumbledore confided in me that she was a time traveller-"

"Time travelling?" Hope asked.

"Yes," everyone responded with no explanation as Hagrid continued.

"I'm sorry I ne'er told yer, but I was sworn to secrecy," Hagrid apologized and Dorea let out a shaking breath as she slowly lowered herself into a chair. Charlus waved his wand and picked up the now repaired plate that Dorea had dropped before he lowered himself into the chair next to her.
