Chapter 2

⩥Three days later⩤

It was a cool spring evening, the sun was about to set. The orange rays spilt over the sky, painting it completely. A soft purple hue could be seen from the lower half of the beautiful scenery. The cafe was quiet today since it was close to closing time.

"Mizuki... I can't wait until our shift is over," mumbled the black-haired boy as he lazily leaned on the broom.

He darted his emerald green eyes towards the female, Mizuki.

"Huh? Yeah, I can't wait,"

*Ding*

⩥Mizuki's Pov⩤

The bell chimed as another customer came through the glass-pane door. I turned around to face the counter to welcome the new customer, "Welcome to Dr Brew! May I take your or-"

I stop mid-sentence when I saw the person whom I was about to take an order.

"-der," I trailed off. I glanced up from my notepad to see a blond-haired gentleman.

I looked around to see if Daiki could help him.

He's gone...

I had to crane my neck up to see his face. He was surprisingly tall, and had short messy blond hair and piercing golden-brown eyes. He wore rectangular glasses that was framed with thin, silvery-grey metal. He looked lanky and wore a short black trench coat that reached his waist, underneath it was a white turtle neck. He plucked out of of his wireless earplugs before looking straight at me.

I blinked multiple times to shake off the unexpected appearance.

Wait.....

I cleared my throat before saying, "What would you like, sir?"

My voice softens at the end of the sentence.

"Black coffee and strawberry shortcake," he said lazily.

I scribbled on my notepad the order before asking him, "Is it a to go or do you want to eat it here?"

"I'll have it here," he said before checking his watch and continued, "I have time."

"Okay!" I said.

"Your order should arrive under 7 minutes. Please, take a seat at any booth of your choice" I said smiling before turning my back to him and started making his order.

He walked off to a booth in the corner, the evening sun shining down on him with a soft orange hue. I poured his black coffee into a cup before handing it to him. I gently set his coffee in front of him as he stared off through the glass, listening to music through his wireless earplugs.

I turned around to go grab a strawberry shortcake and placed it down in front of him.

"Enjoy!" I said although he couldn't hear me.

I made my way back to the counter and started wiping the mugs and platters with a cloth. I felt a tap on my shoulder, so I turned around only to see Daiki with a sorrowful expression.

"I going to kill you Daiki! You left me to do everything! You're gonna pay for our meals today," I snapped.

"Yes, I know. I'm sorry, okay? I had to keep the broom before serving the guy and I'll gladly pay for our meals today as an apology. We good?" he asked.

"Humph! Fine..." I said turning my gaze away from him.

"So, where do you want to eat tonight?" I asked.

"Oh, I thought you would choose today," he said.

"Okay. Let's go eat at Mr Oshi then. I heard the food is great," I suggested.
