CHAPTER 2
Natallie
"I swear, I will bang my head to the closest solid thing if I hear about the new teacher one more time," I grumbled to Matthew as he walked next to me to our lockers.
Then, I heard the most annoying squeal ever. Oh, no. I groaned internally. Not agai- "He talked to me! The hot, new English teacher talked to me! It was so.. His voice was so.. He was so.. HOT! With a capital H-O-T!" I heard another squeal again as the group of girls passed by us, probably heading to the cafeteria.
Ugh. The hallways were pretty much empty, so I went to a nearby locker and banged my head repeatedly while muttering a low, 'Kill me now.'
It was lunch time now, and so far, everything's been about the 'hot', 'single', 'sexy, 'lickable', 'edible' new teacher. Their words, not mine. Gross, I know.
It was, by far, the most annoying, most horrifying, most irritating morning of all mornings at school. No kidding.
I heard Matthew chuckle from behind me, "Come on, it can't be that bad," he said as he put his hands on my shoulder and pulled me away from the poor locker.
"You'd be surprised," I deadpanned. It only brought another chuckle out of him.
Surpsisingly, our lockers were just close. His was four lockers away from mine, which I was thankful for. We put everything in our lockers as we reached there, but before I closed mine, I grabbed my wallet and thought about my phone, but decided to leave it there. I wouldn't need it. After that, we headed to the lunch room.
"So, where do you usually eat?" Matthew asked as he carried both our trays.
I scowled at him, "Matt, I can carry my own tray," I grumbled and tried to take it from him. He raised both trays out of my reach. Darn tall people. He laughed as he saw my scowl deepen.
"But I want to carry it. Now, shorty, where's your table?"
"I'm not short. You're just abnormally tall," I grumbled, "It's this wa--" I was suddenly cut off when someone called Matthew.
"Matthew!" I looked at the direction of the voice. My eyes landed on a hand that was waving in our direction. I traced my gaze down to see that it was the jocks' table. "Eat with us!" My gaze went to the floor when my eyes connected to one of the jock's glaring ones.
Matthew really wasn't the feminine type of gay. Only when he sees or hears if a guy is hot. He won't close his mouth. He'll continue running his mouth until he's found another guy to ogle. Let's just say I wasn't very descrete of how annoyed I was. When he saw my face, though, he laughed and said, "You'll get used to it, babe," while patting my head. Also, he likes basketball, so it's no surprise why the jocks want him to eat with them. I heard Matthew was the Basketball's MVP in his previous school. I asked him why he transferred, he said because his dad found a better job here, he didn't mind. Said he was getting used to it.
I looked at Matthew from behind my curtain of bangs. He was looking back at me questioningly. I smiled at him and said, "You should go." I put my hand out for my tray. He looked hesitant, but eventually, nodded and gave me my tray. He walked towards them and I walked to my own table, which was at the very back of the cafeteria, from there, I can observe anyone.
I was kind of happy, you know, to have Matthew as a company. He was talkative, but tolerable. He was also goofy and funny, and I admit, I was feeling a bit lonely without him now. A bit.
I was in the middle of eating my burger when I heard I commotion. I looked up to see a jock on the ground, cradling his jaw, while Matthew hovered over him with his fists clenched tight. And he looked so angry, he could kill a kitten. And let me tell you, killing a kitten is not very easy. It's hard to even hurt just a single fur of that adorable little thing... Okay, back to topic.
