Nathan's POV

It's already starting off the be a better weekend than last. Susan is staying with me and probably having Charlie come here for once. Not going to lie, I'm getting a little bored and just want to blur my vision and thoughts with some booze.

I'm going to stay strong instead and find something to cure the boredom.

"Hey, Suzzie Q. What you up to?" I ask, leaning against the door frame of her bedroom.

"That rhymed. I was actually about to call the friend group to see if they want to come over for a pool day." She explains and I furrow my brows.

"The friend group? I thought Charlie was your only friend." I joke and she throws a pillow at me.

"I'm not that much of a loser dad. Charlie is part of it but I'm inviting John and Mila too." She rolls her eyes and mine widen. "What? Did you break your RC boat in the pool again?"

"No, I didn't know you befriended Mila." I shrug, trying not to act shocked.

"And John. You better watch it, professor. You might give off the wrong intentions." I scoff whilst rolling my eyes.

"Oh please, I just think it's nice you're making friends. I know Mila was having trouble at first herself is all. John seems to be making friends easily." I explain, trying not to give my daughter the impression that I have an interest in one of my students.

"Uh huh, sure. Anyways, Can you please get your boat out of the pool so we don't break it?" She asks and I chuckle.

"Fine. What time are they coming over?"

"Two, so you better hurry." I furrow my brows.

"I have two hours to get a tiny boat out of my pool, it's not gonna take that long."

"Yeah but I know you'll get distracted in the mean time and start driving it around the pool for an hour." I roll my eyes and wave her off, stepping away from her doorway to go out to the deck.

Suzzie Q is right, as soon as I stand at the edge of the deck, I pick up the remote and start driving the little RC around the pool. I even put on my stupid sailor hat and sit in a chair with one of my legs over the arm rest.

I didn't know how much time passed by until I heard the sliding glass door open and some laughter reaching my ears. "Dad, I told you you'd get distracted!" Susan complains and I turn my head, seeing the friends raising an eyebrow at what I'm doing.

"Sorry, Suzzie Q. You guys can have the pool, I'll leave you alone." I get out of my chair, setting the remote on the edge of the deck, walking towards the stairs down to the pool.

"Sir, you still have your sailor hat on..." Mila says softly, pointing to my head. My cheeks become a little red as I quickly snatch it off my head.

"Stupid hobby I have..." I mutter quickly before rushing down the stairs to get the boat out of the pool.

Mila's POV

Is it me or is Mr. Gardner absolutely adorable in his sailor hat? Yikes, Mila don't think about him like that, he's your professor and your friends father! "Shit, of course I left it in the middle of the pool..." I hear his voice say from below the deck. John, Charlie and Susan are conversing with themselves when I can't seem to get my attention away from the man who teaches me history. When I look back, I see Nathan taking his shirt off before jumping in the pool to retrieve his small boat.

"What the fuck?" I whisper to myself, not being prepared for how amazing he looks without a shirt on. He starts walking up the stairs with the boat in hand, dripping wet from just getting out of the water.
