The new student (Diodeshipping/Ash x Clemont)

Chapter 2

At break, Ash and Serena were chatting at the table.

"You're going to Clemont's house already? You only just met! Why don't you come with me instead!" Serena put her hands together at the fingertips.

Ash nervously but the side of his lip. "I'm sorry, Serena, but I really have to go. Clemont's an inventor. I bet he has some pretty cool stuff at his house."

"All of his inventions end up exploding, anyway." Serena whispered, cautious of her surroundings.

"That's fine, he'll learn. It's like becoming a Pokemon trainer. When I was 10, Pikachu always used to zap me and I didn't know why, and after a while I learnt that he would be friendlier if I treated him with care. You see?"
Serena felt there was no hope for her chances with Ash anymore. He just seemed so... amazed by Clemont, not just as an inventor, but by every other aspect of his character too. Ash told her how nice he thought Clemont was, and how he was very shy and blushed a lot.

Serena never ever suspected Ash was gay. She had always known of his many girlfriends, but never wondered why the relationships were so short. She always thought it was because he still liked her.
But no, he liked guys. Serena remembered when he chose to sleep in Gary's tent instead of hers at summer camp when they were 6. She remembered feeling jealousy for the first time. But she told herself that being jealous would make her a worse friend to Ash, and everyone around her. She still thought Ash was a great friend, and her true kindness always pushed through in the end.

Clemont came over and sat next to Ash. "Hey guys! Sorry I'm late, I was helping Professor Sycamore sort some stuff out."

"That's ok!" Ash gave him a thumbs up. "I was just telling Serena about how nice you are. You're sweet, Clemont." Ash sniffed him after saying that, but it was unnoticeable. Ahh... Lemons. His lovely blonde hair smelled like fresh citrus fruit. "Oh, Clemont! You smell of lemons. You really are a sweet!" He laughed, at which the blonde boy blushed hard.
"It's m-my shampoo..."

Serena had a crush on Ash for as long as she could remember. But she couldn't let seeing him enjoy Clemont's company so much turn her into a jealous friend. She wanted to be a good friend to Ash, and so supported their friendship.
