                                                  10. Paying The Sinclair A Visit

Ever tried to stop an arrogant stubborn and strongwilled person from doing something utterly stupid? Well let me tell you that's is impossible.

Indeed Jennifer won again. We were now speeding on the highway to go see the Sinclair family. Well a part of it since the children only live in town under their grandmother's care. The parents? Maybe in some prestigious city somewhere who couldn't leave their business to watch their sons grow? Well I don't judge.

Anyway do believe me when I say that Jennifer, aka my best friend, is a stubborn person. After she woke me up, I rushed to the bathroom feigning a terrible hangover and told her I was too sick. Either I'm a bad liar or she has special abilities;  she managed to pick the lock of the bathroom and dragged me out by the hair, literally speaking.

So here I was at 7 o'clock in the morning, forming a plan in my head about which way I should take to reach the nearest Starbucks.  A pumpkin spice latte would be great, and maybe some muffins with it too.

"Stop thinking about food and turn right" I broke out of my reverie at Jenni's commanding voice.

Ha there goes your pumpkin latte.

I inwardly rolled my eyes and sent Jenni a glare.

"Where do you even know where he lives?"

"Who doesn't?!"

My mouth shut close at her comment. People easily get bored in this small town, so gossiping is the only activity that keep them excited and alive. As soon as a newcomer settle down here, people find this as an entertaining  opportunity. They'd do background check to know everything about the new residents. That's why we hardly have new people or even tourists.

We soon reached the central park and according to Jenni the house should be on the other side. However a dangerous rumbling was being heard from the engines. The slowly skid to a stop and won't re-start.

"No, no, no.... not now. This damn car!" Jenni cried out while hitting the dashboard with her fist.

"Told you to send it to servicing", I coughed out jokingly. "Come on, it's no big deal, all we have to do is get out of the car and walk through the park. The house isn't that far"

"If you think i'll leave my car here you might as well be dreaming." I gave her an are-you-serious look. " okay fine. You go. I'll just call the highway patrol and will wait for them to come here. We don't have time to waste so as soon as everything's alright i'll meet you there!",she said turning on the hazard lights."

"Actually, we have a lot of time so-"

"Just get out of here! Here, take this in case  you lose your ability to think when you see Max"

Jennifer handed me a small square paper and I didn't even had time to glance at it before being hurled out of the car.

'Avenue 68'

If i was right, this should be where Max lives. I was standing in front of a Victorian house. It was an old but beautiful building with detailed designs of a light brown colour.  I walked up the steps of the porch and halted in front of the door.

Am I really going to do this? At this hour?!

Stop your drama and press the bell. You've just came to see a friend and to ask some questions.

That was indeed true. There was nothing to be afraid of. All I need is to press this button and ask for Max. Pretty simple! But why is my heart beating so fast? And why is my hands all sweaty?
